Today, we recognize and celebrate the retirement of Corrections Officer Teresa Petersen after more than 18 years of dedicated service to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.

For over 18 years, Teresa has been a steady and dependable presence within our jail. Working in a correctional facility is often a challenging and demanding profession that requires patience, professionalism, and a commitment to maintaining safety and security every day. Sheriff Spunaugle and Chief Deputy Mitchell had the opportunity to spend some time on the radio with Kcsi/Koak Radio, sharing updates and talking about the work being done by the Montgomery County Sheriffโ€™s Office. They also discussed our upcoming K9 Golf Tournament on June 6th, which helps support the training, equipment, and care for our K9s.

Last week, deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office had the opportunity to spend some time with students at Stanton Community Schools. ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿซ

During the visit, students were able to ask questions and learn more about the responsibilities that come with being a deputy. Our team enjoyed sharing what a typical day can look like in law enforcement and talking about the many ways we work to keep our community safe. ๐Ÿ’ฌ๐Ÿš“

Students also got to see an exciting demonstration from our K9 unit, showing how our K9 partners assist deputies in the field. ๐Ÿ•โ€๐Ÿฆบ The demonstration gave students a firsthand look at how our K9 team works and the important role they play in law enforcement.

We appreciate the invitation and the opportunity to connect with the students and staff. Thank you to Stanton Community School District for welcoming us into your classrooms! ๐Ÿ™Œ

The Montgomery County K9 Unit would like to extend a sincere thank you to Sherry Heuer for her generous donation of a complete bite suit for our K9 training program.

Bite suits are a critical piece of equipment used during training scenarios. They allow our handlers to safely work with our K9s while practicing real-world situations such as suspect apprehension and control. This protective gear keeps our trainers safe while allowing the K9s to train effectively and build the skills they rely on in the field.

Donations like this directly support the continued training and readiness of our K9 team, helping ensure our dogs and handlers are prepared to serve and protect our community.

Thank you, Sherry, for your generosity and support of the Montgomery County K9 Unit! Your contribution truly makes a difference. ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’™
