⚠️ Public Awareness Notice – Fake Currency ⚠️

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office has recently had two different individuals turn in fake $100 bills that they found on the street. The bills are marked as “Motion Picture” currency and are not legal tender.

We want to make local merchants aware of this situation as you conduct business. Someone may find one of these bills on the ground and, without realizing it is fake, attempt to use it as payment.

❗️Merchants: Please take a moment to carefully inspect currency before accepting it.

❗️Public: If you find money on the ground, please be aware that it could be fake or novelty currency. Check the bill carefully before attempting to use it.

📚 School is almost back in session! 📚

We are only a few days away from the start of another school year, and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind everyone to slow down, stay alert, and give yourself plenty of time to get where you’re going.

With school starting, there will be more traffic on the roads, including new and inexperienced drivers heading to and from school. Please be patient, put the phone down, watch your speed.

🚌 We also want to remind everyone about school bus laws.

Please know when you are required to stop for a school bus and when you are legally permitted to proceed.
👉 Take a moment to look at the information below about when you can and cannot pass a school bus. Knowing the law could prevent a tragedy and could save you from losing your license.

Let's all do our part to make this school year a safe one for our students, bus drivers, parents, teachers, and everyone else on the road.

Slow down. Pay attention. Be patient. And please STOP for school buses when required.

PUBLIC NOTICE – DOOR-TO-DOOR SOLICITOR

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office would like to make residents aware of a door-to-door solicitor who may be visiting homes throughout Montgomery County.

Oskar Ots is currently going door-to-door offering educational 📚 materials on behalf of Southwest Advantage. He is driving a blue Ford Focus displaying Iowa license plate RKA388. 🚙
