We Love our Trees in Red Oak!!!

Big news for Red Oak’s trees! 🌿
Congratulations to the City of Red Oak - Government on receiving the IRA Urban Forestry Development Grant, a $50K investment in a healthier, greener community.

This funding will help remove hazardous trees, plant two new trees for every one removed, complete a full community tree inventory, integrate it into our GIS system, and develop a long‑term tree management plan. 🌱📊
Grant agreements are expected in September, with projects beginning October 1. Learn more about the program through the Iowa DNR’s Urban Forestry Grant initiative: 🔗https://www.iowadnr.gov/programs-services/forestry-resources/urban-forestry/urban-forestry-grant-programs

We’ve been feeling so thankful for our community and friends. Now having experienced “regulars” and getting to know your stories and growing together, we’re feeling honored that you continue to support this journey. So thank YOU!! We hope you enjoy this twist on our local fall experience.

While we’re on the topic… does everyone know the story of how Red Oak got its name?

🌳 Chautauqua Park | Red Oak, Iowa 🌳
Established in 1921, Chautauqua Park reflects Red Oak's long-standing commitment to community, education, and recreation. Named after the nationally recognized Chautauqua movement, which brought educational programs, cultural enrichment, and entertainment to communities across America in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the park has served as a gathering place for generations of residents and visitors.
At the heart of the park stands its historic pavilion, a venue that has welcomed countless lectures, concerts, civic events, and community celebrations over the years. Today, Chautauqua Park continues to be one of Red Oak's most treasured public spaces, offering a ball field, playground equipment, picnic areas, and modern amenities for families and groups to enjoy.
Whether hosting a community event, enjoying a family picnic, cheering on a ballgame, or simply spending time outdoors, visitors will find Chautauqua Park to be a place where Red Oak's rich history and vibrant community spirit come together.
