Red Springs Police Department is asking everyone to be on the look out for any possible criminal activity. We at Red Springs are sensitive to the desires good people wish to achieve, but for some reason it seems only a few have a much different desire and that desire is to cause trouble and break the law. The Red Springs Police Department cannot condone such behavior and will not stand for our town to be destroyed. The administration of Red Springs welcome anyone who wants to make positive changes in our community. Captain McMillian and Interim Chief Monroe are always on standby to assist however they can. Only together, we can make our community safe. We are asking the entire community of Red Springs to come together to prevent our town from becoming another statistic on national news. You can help by calling the Police Department or 911 if you see or hear about any upcoming unlawful activity. We will support only those who have a lawful purpose in mind and we are willing to meet with any person or group in a collective effort to stop the violence and any biased activity seen within our police department. Lets talk about it, lets do it together and lets keep our town safe!

Kimothy Monroe, Interim Chief of Police

On Thursday May 28th from 11am to 2pm., the Town of Red Springs is hosting a Covid-19 compliance event for Chief Ronnie Patterson. Chief Patterson is retiring this week and this is his way of saying farewell to everyone he knows and loves. Starting at 11am Chief Patterson will be in front of Town Hall along with his family and other town dignitaries where a brief presentation ceremony will take place. Because of Covid-19 and social distancing regulations, we ask everyone to drive through the designated northbound curbside lane where motorist will be assisted thru the line. Once parked in front of town hall everybody is welcome to spend about 5minutes with the chief, wish him well, shake his hand, give him a hug or just drive thru and wave. Pedestrians please maintain social distancing and respect the personal space of others.

There will be light food on hand until it's all gone. Everybody is welcome!

There will be a more formal celebration for Chief Patterson at a later date this year due to Covid-19. No date has been set. Town Manager David Ashburn said, "We just didn't want Ronnie to leave without having some opportunity to connect with the people he served for over 30 years. Congratulate him and wish him well in his new life of leisure.
Remember the date: Thursday May 28th starting at 11:00am. Everybody is welcome to attend.

When Cops Retire.....

When a good cop leaves the 'job' and retires to a better life, many are jealous, some are pleased and yet others, who may have already retired, wonder. We wonder if he knows what he is leaving behind, because we already know. We know, for example, that after a lifetime of camaraderie that few experience, it will remain as a longing for those past times. We know in the law enforcement life there is a fellowship which lasts long after the uniforms are hung up in the back of the closet. We know even if he throws them away, they will be on him with every step and breath that remains in his life. We also know how the very bearing of the man speaks of what he was and in his heart still is.

These are the burdens of the job. You will still look at people suspiciously, still see what others do not see or choose to ignore and always will look at the rest of the law enforcement world with a respect for what they do; only grown in a lifetime of knowing. Never think for one moment you are escaping from that life. You are only escaping the 'job' and merely being allowed to leave 'active' duty.

So what I wish for you is that whenever you ease into retirement, in your heart you never forget for one moment that 'Blessed are the Peacemakers for they shall be called children of God,' and you are still a member of the greatest fraternity the world has ever known.

POLICE FRIENDS: Will forward this.. There are those that think they understand. And then . . . There are cops.
