Did you know? "Flushable" wipes actually shouldn't be flushed. They don't break down and are known to clog pipes and equipment. Toss them in the trash instead, and help keep your home plumbing and community sewer system functioning.

Marina? Been there. Refuse and recycling? Done that. Plowing snow? Misses it. After 30 years, there aren’t too many areas of Public Works that Lynn Nardinger, Deputy Director of Public Services, hasn’t explored.
Before becoming Superintendent and then Deputy Director of Public Services, Lynn spent time in almost every division of Public Works, including the cemetery, the shop, and out doing street maintenance. While Lynn misses snow plowing the most – it reminds him of riding with his dad when he was younger – he’s also particularly enjoyed working with the three major riverboat companies to get them to dock in Red Wing.
On a daily basis, Lynn’s in charge of overseeing street maintenance, underground utilities, fleet maintenance, and Ole Miss Marina. Being involved in big projects, like the renovation of Levee Park, has kept his job fun and interesting. No matter the task or project, Lynn is determined to see it through to completion, and the people and organizations he has worked with has made doing that gratifying.
Lynn doesn’t just see things through at Public Works, though. When he’s not on the clock, he’s upholding the legacy of the 148-year-old family farm in the Goodhue-Bellechester area where he cash crops roughly 360 acres. Lynn relaxes with weekend Gator rides and Sunday cruises with his wife, Peg, in a Camaro – the perfect ride for a Chevy guy through and through. He also loves getting to watch his five granddaughters grow up, and with the grandkids living within half a mile on either side of him, it’s easy to spend lots of time with them and catch their sporting events.
While there’s no contest between the title of grandpa and any he’s had over the last 30 years at Public Works, Lynn has done a phenomenal job in every role he’s held at the City of Red Wing. Join us in congratulating Lynn on his 30-year career achievement; our entire community has benefited from the work he’s done.

As we enter into the holiday season, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on where we have been and express our gratitude for partnerships this year. We are celebrating some important successes:
• We have increased the number of people served by more than 40% from the past two years.
• In Wabasha County, we have seen a 900% increase in the number of people served – leading us to move to a larger and more secure office to meet the community's needs.
• We expanded into Red Wing School District this year, providing advocacy and support to youth impacted by abuse.
• We are conducting more outreach in the community, including presenting on our model and services to schools and civic groups.
• We are fully on track to meet our fundraising goals for 2022. To help us reach those goals in this last month of the year, please visit our website to support our work. www.hope-coalition.org/donate
PS: If you are part of a group that would be interested in learning more about our goals and our path to success, please reach out to [email protected] to set up a presentation.

Without the City of Red Wing Government, we couldn't put on the Holiday Stroll. They provide in-kind services like putting up the giant tree, delivering picnic tables, garbage cans, and barricades. They even provide us with patrol officers and reserve officers to help keep everyone safe. Thank you, City of Red Wing for being a MAJOR Sponsor of this year's Holiday Stroll.
Please try to attend. This is going to be amazing. AND it's free!!
