Nick Richmond's STEAM students completed their winter survival unit, erecting a shelter and creating a stretcher to carry a "wounded" classmate. Getting into the mood, a few students donned stocking caps despite the fine spring weather.

The grade 6 STEAM students completed a two-week unit on small engines. As part of their study they worked on push lawn mowers. Students learned how to change the plug, oil, air filter and gas, and they also balanced the blades, which teacher Nick Richmond sharpened if needed.

When sirens sounded at 1:45 p.m. today for the statewide tornado drill that is part of Severe Weather Awareness Week, April 13-17, students and staff quickly and safely conducted the SHELTER Action. We encourage families to practice their home plans when sirens sound at 6:45 p.m. tonight. Understanding the threat and knowing what to do when a tornado is approaching can save lives.
