A special unveiling took place yesterday for our student, Dencel! We are so honored that artist Heidi Bacon Artist selected Dencel as one of four rural southeastern Minnesota residents featured in a project funded by the Minnesota State Arts Board.

The project highlights individuals who have overcome significant obstacles, celebrating the resilience of the human spirit and inspiring others. It reminds us that people we see every day--like Dencel--have remarkable stories worth sharing. We are proud of him and grateful to Heidi Bacon Artist for helping tell his story.
The stories and portraits were presented at closing events at the Maritime Museum in Winona and galleries in Red Wing, and Rochester and Minneapolis.

¡Ayer tuvo lugar una ceremonia especial de presentación para nuestro estudiante, Dencel! Nos sentimos muy honrados de que la artista Heidi Bacon haya seleccionado a Dencel como uno de los cuatro residentes de zonas rurales del sureste de Minnesota que participan en un proyecto financiado por la Junta Estatal de las Artes de Minnesota.

El proyecto destaca a personas que han superado obstáculos importantes, celebrando la resiliencia del espíritu humano e inspirando a otros. Nos recuerda que las personas que vemos todos los días, como Dencel, tienen historias extraordinarias que vale la pena compartir. We celebrated the end of a school year which was a year filled with growth and perseverance and we are especially proud to recognize the 17 students graduating from high school. 🎓

During the celebration, students shared words of gratitude for their teachers and 3 tutors who supported them throughout the year. We are so proud of all they have accomplished and excited for what lies ahead!💓

Al celebrar el final de un año escolar lleno de crecimiento y perseverancia, nos sentimos especialmente orgullosos de rendir homenaje a los 17 alumnos que se gradúan de la escuela secundaria. 🎓
Durante la celebración, los alumnos compartieron sinceras palabras de agradecimiento hacia sus maestros y los tres tutores que los apoyaron a lo largo del año. ¡Estamos muy orgullosos de todo lo que han logrado y emocionados por lo que les espera en el futuro!💓

Our end-of-year celebration for middle school students and tutors was a wonderful event this week! Students enjoyed delicious pupusas--always a favorite--along with a beautiful and tasty cake.

We are so proud of the students of the Hispanic Student United Club and the leadership they have shown over the past two years. As this year’s leaders pass the torch to a new executive board, we celebrate their dedication and positive impact in our schools and community.

Our Youth and Family Team has loved supporting students through field trips, school activities, and the Reading Buddy Program with ELL students at Sunnyside Elementary, where high school students visited monthly to read, play, and build meaningful connections.

Thank you to these amazing student leaders for inspiring the next generation!💓

Estamos muy orgullosos de los estudiantes del Club de Estudiantes Hispanos Unidos y del liderazgo que han demostrado durante los últimos dos años. Ahora que los líderes de este año pasan el relevo a una nueva junta ejecutiva, celebramos su dedicación y el impacto positivo que han tenido en nuestras escuelas y en la comunidad.

A nuestro Equipo de Jovenes y Familia le ha encantado apoyar a los estudiantes a través de excursiones, actividades escolares y el Programa de Compañeros de Lectura con estudiantes de ELL en la Primaria Sunnyside, donde los estudiantes de secundaria visitaban mensualmente para leer, jugar y establecer conexiones significativas.

Celebrating the completion of the first year of our Soul and Well-being Program, participants gathered for a meaningful May retreat at YMCA Camp Pepin facilitated by F***y Fernández of Infinite Prema. The retreat focused on emotional well-being, reflection, and reconnecting through nature and creative experiences. Transportation and childcare were provided to help make this healing experience accessible to all. Special thanks to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota Foundation for their continued support of this program. 🌷🩷

Para celebrar la finalización del primer año de nuestro Programa de Alma y Bienestar, los participantes se reunieron en un significativo retiro celebrado en mayo en Camp Pepin, Wisconsin, y moderado por F***y Fernández. El retiro se centró en el bienestar emocional, la reflexión y la reconexión a través de la naturaleza y las experiencias creativas. Se proporcionó transporte y servicio de guardería para que esta experiencia sanadora fuera accesible para todos. 🌷🩷
