✨Future careers sparked right here at Oshkiimaajitahdah!✨
Last week on 4/30/2026, Red Lake Nation’s Tribal Employment Rights Office (TERO) welcomed twelve students from Voyageurs Expeditionary School for an exciting Trades Demonstration Day filled with hands-on learning, career exploration, and real-world experience.
Students explored careers in Welding and Healthcare, while learning about workplace and jobsite safety, union benefits, and career pathways that don’t always require a traditional degree.🛠️
A highlight of the day was hearing Rebekah Fineday share her inspiring journey from serving in the United States Air Force to building a career in Healthcare. Students then stepped into the CNA lab, where they learned respectful and compassionate patient care techniques through live demonstration.🩺
In the welding lab, Oshkiimaajitahdah welding instructor Charles Goodwin and guest instructor Al Belleveau guided students through PPE safety, welding basics, and hands-on practice. With instructor supervision, every student had the chance to weld and even take home their own personal makwa sculpture! 🐻
We are grateful for the opportunity to introduce students to skilled trades and meaningful career paths, and we look forward to hosting more events like this in the future, especially with our local schools and youth.
Miigwech to everyone who helped make the day a success!
