The GROW Program currently has an abundant harvest of fresh, locally grown cucumbers, zucchini, yellow squash, fresh herbs and tomatoes.

We will have a farmstand popup on Wednesday, August 26 from 8:30 am - 10:30 am (or until sold out) in front of the JRF at 2684 Radio Lane, Redding.

If you’re interested, please stop by. We gratefully accept cash donations, which directly support the continued growth and success of the GROW Program.

Shasta County Probation is proud to participate in the Shasta County Positive Childhood Experiences (PCE) Town Hall on October 15. Chief Neal will be participating on the panel, sharing her perspective on the importance of supporting youth, families, and strong community connections.

Today, Chief Neal had the honor of attending the SCOE Leadership meeting and kicking things off with a very special recognition for someone many of us know “Mr. B.”

After 5 years as a teacher at the Juvenile Rehabilitation Facility (JRF) as a teacher, Anders Benoit is stepping into a new administrative role. While we are excited to see him take this next step, his departure from the classroom marks the end of something truly special.

Mr. B brought a unique passion, creativity, and commitment to education that made an extraordinary impact on the young people he served.

Chief Neal said "Today, I was honored to present Mr. B with a special five-year recognition plaque celebrating his extraordinary dedication and service to the youth of the JRF. Throughout my career, I have rarely seen a teacher who cared so deeply about his work and believed so strongly in the potential of every young person. He didn’t just teach, he connected, inspired, challenged, and invested in our youth in a way that was truly one of a kind."

Congratulations to Allen Pearce, Nicholas Birdseye, Andy Fink, Elijah Krisfalusy, Jude Moon, Gary St. Pierre, Lisa Wilson and John Wood for graduating from the Shasta Day Reporting Center (DRC) last night!

The DRC program is built on the foundation of cognitive behavioral services, designed to help participants reshape their mindsets and build a foundation for long-term success. From developing essential life skills to receiving dedicated support that continues even after graduation, these individuals have been given the tools to navigate a new path.

True growth isn't easy—it requires persistence, self-reflection, and the courage to change. This group has put in the hard work to reach this turning point, and we couldn't be prouder of their dedication to building a better future for themselves and their community.

Tonight, our Probation Officers are celebrating the hard work, growth, and accomplishments of our DRC graduates as they take the next step forward.

Every graduation represents progress, perseverance, and a new opportunity. As Probation staff, we are proud to celebrate their accomplishments and be part of their journey toward a successful future!

Congratulations to Deputy Probation Officers (DPOs) Ryan Mozolic, Cara Wagner and Reagan Breedlove, and Juvenile Detention Officer (JDO) Courtney Graves, who were officially sworn in this past Friday!

The ceremony, administered by the Honorable Judge Dan Flynn, was well attended by friends, family, and staff, who are excited to have these new members of the team. These DPOs will all work with adult offenders, while JDO Graves will be working in our Juvenile Detention Facility (JRF).

Congratulations again to our new DPOs and JDO! They’ve already become great additions to our team.

Please join us in welcoming our new Cal-AIM Analyst, Tim Strohmayer!

What is Cal-AIM?
Cal-AIM stands for California Advancing and Innovating Medi-Cal. This initiative will provide Medi-Cal coverage to eligible adults and all youth up to 90 days prior to release from correctional facilities.

Why It Matters
Probationers have a high risk for medical emergencies and health crises in the weeks following their release. By starting care pre-release, we can offer:
• Dedicated reentry care management and navigation of community-based services
• Mental health and substance use support
• Medications and medical equipment upon release

Though we already provide medical services to youth in our custody, Tim’s work with CalAIM transforms this model into a whole-person, wraparound system that follows youth as they transition out of the Juvenile Rehabilitation Facility (JRF). By coordinating medical, behavioral, and social support services, CalAIM ensures continuity of care as youth transition back into the community.

106 years of service. Three incredible women. One lasting legacy.

On July 23rd, we had the honor of recognizing three truly remarkable women, the original OGs of the Shasta County Juvenile Justice Commission.
Together, Susan, Yvonne, and Barbara have dedicated an incredible 106 years of service to supporting youth, families, and the juvenile justice system in Shasta County.

Susan Duncan– 30 years, 4 months
Yvonne Tate – 41 years, 2 months
Barbara Van D**e – 34 years, 6 months

Their unwavering commitment, compassion, and countless hours of volunteer service have helped shape the Juvenile Justice Commission and made a lasting impact on our community. Chief Neal noted “It has been a true privilege to work alongside these amazing women over the years.” On behalf of the Shasta County Probation Department and the Juvenile Justice Commission, thank you for your extraordinary service, your dedication, and the difference you've made for generations of youth.
