Shasta County Probation Department was proud to hit the pavement today, running alongside local Special Olympics athletes for the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run. Together, we carried the "Flame of Hope" through our community to support Special Olympics Northern California and raise awareness about their program!

Every step we take and every dollar raised helps provide year-round sports training, health resources, and leadership programs for these phenomenal athletes at zero cost to their families.

We love being part of this incredible tradition alongside our fellow local law enforcement agencies. Huge thank you to everyone who cheered us on! Plus another thank you to everyone who sponsored this run, especially the Chief Probation Officers of California!

Please join us in celebrating Angie Cravens, recipient of the 2025 Chief’s Distinguished Award!

Angie began her journey with the department in 2017 as an AmeriCorps worker and has since risen through the ranks to her current role as a JDO III in the Juvenile Rehabilitation Facility. Over nearly a decade, her unwavering commitment, professionalism, and dedication to the probation field have left a lasting mark on our department.

Known for her exceptional ability to connect with youth, Angie leads with compassion, consistency, and a calm, "nothing shakes me" attitude that brings stability to any situation. She is a true role model who leads by example, inspires her peers, and strengthens our entire team through her positive attitude and steady leadership.

Angie, thank you for your outstanding service and for always giving your all to the youth and staff of Shasta County. This honor is incredibly well deserved! 👏✨

Are you raising a strong-willed child and looking for new tools to help navigate the challenges? It’s almost time for our next session of the Parent Project!

While this "Best Practices" program is facilitated through the Probation Department, it is a community-based program open to anyone who wants to participate. It is specifically designed to give parents concrete methods and different approaches that work for strong-willed kids, helping families build stronger connections and prevent the need for outside intervention.

This class is also an excellent resource for families undergoing reunification or other major shifts within the household dynamic.

Details are on the attached flyer. To sign up or ask questions, please contact Officer Redelsperger at [email protected].

Huge congratulations to Officer Chelsea Bradley, our Juvenile Rehabilitation Facility (JRF) Employee of the Month for May!

Officer Bradley is a standout member of the JRF team who consistently brings a high level of professionalism and an outstanding attitude to her work. She manages the 900 pod with incredible efficiency, creating a positive and orderly environment for both staff and the youth in our care. Since joining the department, she has quickly proven herself to be a reliable, dedicated, and highly effective officer.

Her peers have nothing but praise for her performance, describing her as an "amazing new staff member" who is proactive, firm when needed, and incredibly easy to work with. Whether she is staying on top of watch tours, building great rapport with the kids, or simply bringing a positive vibe to the shift, Chelsea is amazing in her new role. (And word on the street is, if you're a fish in a local lake, you’d better watch out—she’s a fishing machine!)

Chelsea, your commitment to excellence and your rapport with the team makes you a true asset to the Shasta County Probation Department. This recognition is incredibly well deserved! 👏🏆
