🤝Sharing Paradise’s Recovery Story on a National Stage 💛

This past week, the Camp Fire Collaborative was honored to present at the National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) Conference in Reno alongside Aaron Singer from Paradise Stronger and Theresa Azevedo from United Way of Northern California.

We were grateful for a strong turnout and thoughtful discussions on "How do organizations build enough trust to stay at the table long enough to create impact?"

Our community has learned hard lessons through recovery, but we’ve also built something special — partnerships that span sectors, organizations that work together rather than apart, and people who continue to show up for one another years after disaster struck.

We’re proud to share what Paradise and the Ridge have taught us about collaboration, trust, and long-term recovery — and grateful to continue learning from others doing this work nationwide. 🌲

North State, we need your help. In 2025, we reached thousands of neighbors across our region, connecting people to food, housing, financial support, and critical services. But the need is growing, and our capacity is shrinking. We’ve made difficult decisions to keep showing up. Now we’re asking our community to show up with us.❤️ Give. Share. Get involved. We are your local United Way, United Way of Northern California (UWNC), serving 9 counties across Northern California.

We’ve stood alongside our neighbors through disaster seasons, supported families during tax season with free tax preparation, answered thousands of 211 calls when people needed help the most, and stepped in when SNAP benefits were cut.

In 2025, we made difficult decisions including downsizing our staff, closing our office and completing the MSC pilot program. The need in our community continues to grow every day and we need support to keep showing up for our neighbors.

UWNC has been serving the North State since 1973 and we are committed to continuing that work, but we can’t do it alone.

Our Board Chair is matching up to $2,500, meaning we can unlock up to $5,000 for our community.

Last Friday, we spent the evening with a group of youth for our Building Bridges Next Gen session.💙✨

Building Bridges Next Gen is a space for middle and high school students to come together, build connection, and learn how to have respectful, open conversation even when we disagree.

They shared their personal experiences with judgment and reflected on how curiosity can show up more in their day to day lives. We talked about the importance of staying curious and supporting each other’s differences.

Our next session is Friday the 24th at 6 PM at Reciproka 550 Cypress Avenue!

Redding parents, bring your middle schoolers and high schoolers and join us as we continue learning together. Dinner provided!👀
