Today, we join so many around the world in remembering Dolly Parton and the incredible legacy she leaves behind.

Dolly gave the world so much through her music, her kindness, and her unwavering belief in the power of books. Through Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, she turned that belief into something children could hold in their hands: a free book of their very own, arriving in the mail each month.

Here in Shasta County, we have had the privilege of helping carry that dream forward. Through the Imagination Library, more than 3,000 local children have received free books, helping families build home libraries, share stories together, and begin a lifelong love of reading.

For that, and for everything she did to put books into children's hands and hearts, we are deeply grateful.

Thank you, Dolly. You will be missed, but your stories, your generosity, and the love of reading you inspired will continue for generations to come. 💙🩷🧡

Starting September 1, 2026, the Anderson Library will be open Tuesday - Saturday, 10 am - 6 pm EVERY DAY! That means more time to browse, study, use library resources, and discover something new every Saturday.
