🚧 PLAN AHEAD: EXTENDED DELAYS ON SR 299 EAST OF BURNEY 🚧

Starting Monday, August 24, motorists traveling on State Route 299 east of Burney should plan for extended delays as crews continue work on the Pit One Grade Rockfall Mitigation Project.

🚁 Crews will be using a helicopter to install permanent rockfall mitigation cabling and drapery systems on the slope above the highway. For everyone's safety, this work will require longer traffic holds:

📍 Monday–Thursday: Up to 70-minute delays from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
📍 Friday: Up to 70-minute delays from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Traffic control is expected to return to 30-minute delays following helicopter operations.

The helicopter will use the nearby vista point as a landing zone because a suitable landing area is not available at the airport.

If you're traveling through the area:
➡️ Plan ahead and allow extra travel time
➡️ Consider alternate routes when possible
➡️ Slow down and stay alert in the work zone
➡️ Watch for construction crews and equipment
