Ready for Life Foster Family Agency

Ready for Life Foster Family Agency Our mission is fostering hope and transforming lives, one child at a time. LIC #455 002 824 Ready for Life was founded by Rick and Nena Panza.

The Panza's have over twenty years of experience with foster children and group home level children, office management and social work. They are committed to seeing the children in their communities succeed. Ready for Life embodies Rick and Nena's philosophy regarding the care and well-being of foster children. After years of working with displaced foster and group home youth, they realized that t

raditional foster care was not always able to provide the children with adequate vocational, social and life skills necessary to make them 'Ready for Life' after foster care ended. Their immediate needs were often met, but their spiritual and long-term needs and goals were often left unattended. Our logo shows a butterfly emerging from a broken circle. It is a symbol of the transformation that can occur as we pray daily for them and when children are placed in caring, structured, therapeutic foster homes. Ready for Life was established specifically to provide foster care children with the life skills they require along with safe havens for personal growth and physical care. Our mission is to touch and impact the individual lives of every child we meet. Be it big or small, that impact has a positive and enduring affect on their lives, and on the community in which they live. The more children are supported and guided, the better parents, workers and advocates they become. We don't just see to the immediate needs of the children; we provide them with the total care they require and deserve. It is our hope and prayer to see each of the children entrusted to us, placed in local homes and provided with opportunities by local supportive agencies and individuals so that they can become successful, empowered, healthy and happy. Ready for Life is also dedicated to meeting the needs of the children at every stage within the foster care system from their initial placement with our agency and matching them with a good fit foster family, to providing them with education, social graces, and life skills that they can take with them into their communities when they exit the system as productive, active, contributing adults...providing the communities with a lasting and authentic legacy. The children come to our agency from several surrounding counties and various backgrounds. They are between the ages of 0-18 years, and can come from diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds. Some of them are at a standard treatment level and some are at an Intensive Treatment foster care level. Some need long term homes and some short term. Some are in need of an adoption or concurrent home to go to. All of them have one thing in common: they need your love, compassion, understanding, and support during this transition time. Learn how to become a foster parent with our agency, donate funds or supplies, sponsor an activity, or become a member of our team through employment. The children are our future... and they need your help today.

We are incredibly grateful to the Community Alliance Network for their generous donation to our agency following this year’s Spring Fest event.

Because of supporters like CAN, we are able to continue showing up for children, youth, and families in our community through foster care, housing support, and programs that create hope and stability when it’s needed most.

Spring Fest was more than just a fun community event - it was an opportunity for people to come together and directly impact the lives of vulnerable children and families right here in our region. We are so thankful to everyone who attended, supported, volunteered, sponsored, and helped make the event such a success.

To the Community Alliance Network: thank you for believing in our mission and investing in “our children, our communities, our legacy.” Your partnership and generosity will make a lasting difference. ❤️

“Our children. Our communities. Our legacy.” 💙

Every child deserves safety, stability, and someone willing to show up for them. Foster parents have the opportunity to change the trajectory of a child’s life simply by opening their home and heart.

This Foster Care Awareness Month, we’re reminded that healing happens in community- that together, we can make a lasting impact.

We’re so grateful to Valley Christian Family for inviting us to speak today during Foster Care Awareness Month.

Every conversation helps bring more awareness to the needs of children and families in our community, and reminds foster families that they are not alone.

Thank you for partnering with us and helping create hope for vulnerable youth and families. đź’™

We are incredibly proud to celebrate Megan’s participation in Leadership Redding Class of 2026 💙

Leadership Redding has provided meaningful opportunities to share the mission and heart behind Ready for Life, build lasting community connections, and engage with local leaders who are passionate about making a difference in our region. Experiences like these create valuable opportunities for collaboration, growth, and advocacy that continue to strengthen the work we do for children, youth, and families.

We are thankful for organizations that invest in community leadership and help create spaces for connection and impact.

Meet Megan Preller, Executive Director of Ready for Life. With 18+ years in foster care, Megan started at Ready for Life in 2008 and has grown through every role to lead the organization today. A lifelong Redding resident raised in a foster family, she recently launched Host Homes — supporting young adults aged 18-24 in Shasta County.

This Foster Care Awareness Month, we want to recognize the incredible Resource Parents who open their homes and hearts to children in need. đź’™

Being a foster parent means offering safety, stability, patience, and love during some of the most difficult moments in a child’s life.

To every caregiver walking this journey: thank you. Your impact is greater than you know.
