COMMUNITY NOTICE: “Senior Assassin” Joel Barlow High School Class of 2026
Redding Police Department is aware that members of the Joel Barlow High School senior class may be participating in the annual “Senior Assassin” game in the coming days.
While this is a long-standing tradition, the Redding Police Department or Joel Barlow High School does not endorse participation. Our priority is ensuring the safety of our students, families, and the community, while preventing unnecessary alarm.

COMMUNITY AWARENESS
Residents may observe students carrying water guns in neighborhoods or public areas.
If you observe unsafe behavior or someone carrying what appears to be a real weapon, do not approach, call 911 immediately. Officers will respond and investigate.

IMPORTANT REMINDER
This is intended to be a game, but it can quickly become dangerous if poor decisions are made.
No game is worth:
• A motor vehicle crash
• Someone feeling threatened
• A police response involving a perceived weapon

MESSAGE TO SENIORS & FAMILIES
We want you to enjoy the end of your senior year, but do so responsibly. Think about how your actions appear to others in the community.

Last night, our more senior firefighters practiced quickly donning air masks, attempting to do it in 25 seconds or less. Our volunteers know to keep a cool head to secure their masks properly, ensuring facial protection and good airflow.

We also practiced stretching hose off a fire engine. Specific maneuvers enable firefighters to pull hose off quickly and safely.
