You have likely seen Madison around town or at community events, always representing Redding Fire & EMS Co. #1 with pride and dedication. She is a shining example of the future of our department, and we are excited to watch her continue to grow.

Today, we pause to remember the heroes who gave their lives in service to our nation. Their bravery and sacrifice will always be remembered. We extend our gratitude to those who served and to the families who continue to carry their legacy. Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day! 🇺🇸

🇺🇸 Despite the rain, the spirit of Redding showed up strong today for our Annual Memorial Day Parade & Picnic! From the parade route to the picnic tables, we had a great time celebrating together and honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped make today possible — our volunteers, parade participants, organizers, and all who came out to support the event.
As always, we’re proud to serve this amazing community. Wishing everyone in town a safe, happy, and memorable Memorial Day weekend! 🇺🇸

In 1967, the first emergency medical service was founded. Pittsburgh's hill district's citizens recognized the urgent need for emergency medical care, and founded the Freedom House Ambulance Service. The civil rights organization worked with Presbyterian University Hospital, recruited 25 veterans, and trained them in advanced emergency medical care. They invented CPR, administered advanced life support in the field, and set many of the standards we use 59 years later.

We started our ambulance transport service in 1941, and evolved to provide emergency medical care in the 1960s and 1970s. Now in 2026, we very heavily on professionally trained, passionate, and caring volunteers who carry out the same mission as Freedom House.

This is national emergency medical services week. We salute and thank our tireless and dedicated members who care for our friends and neighbors day and night.

Redding Fire & EMS Co. #1 had a great time at this year’s Frog Frolic Festival! 🐸🚒 We always enjoy getting out into the community for events like Touch-a-Truck and connecting with our neighbors. Thanks to everyone who stopped by!

International Firefighters’ Day was inspired following the deaths of five firefighters fighting a brush fire in Australia in 1998. This year, it falls on the day following National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend.

Over the weekend, our volunteers took part in a community event, live fire training evolutions, emergency medical incidents, a residential fire alarm, and a motor vehicle extrication / rescue.

We salute those who protect our community with such strong dedication and professionalism, and take pause to reflect on the sacrifices made every day by our first responders.

Hi all,
We're looking at significant snow, wind, and cold temperatures, in the coming days.

Extra care is needed during times like this.
- Make sure you have functioning Carbon Monoxide (CO) and smoke detectors that are less than 10 years old
- Stay home as much as possible. If you are out, look for downed power lines and heed road closures.
- If you lose power, notify your electric utility.
- In case of emergency, call 911
- Use of extension cords and power strips with electric heaters can be very unsafe. If an electric heater must be used, make sure the instructions are followed and there is adequate space around it.
- Unvented kerosene heaters are unsafe for household use, and in many cases, illegal.
- Keep in touch with friends and neighbors, in case you or they need help
