Children's Legacy Center We exist to give hope, provide healing, and ensure justice for children and youth impacted by trauma.

Children’s Legacy Center (CLC) was founded by and functions through collaboration with the following agencies to drive change through procedure, practice, and policy:

Anderson Police Department Redding Police Department
Shasta County Sheriff’s Office
Crime Victims Assistance

The

CLC, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, provides trauma-informed, evidence-based services to children who have been impacted by abuse, neglect, exploitation, or other significant trauma. The CLC is the combination of a Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC), Behavioral Health Program, and Regional Pilot Program. Prevention does not start at the crisis point.

It starts earlier.

With a young person who has a safe adult in their life.

During National Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month, we are reminded that prevention is not just about information. It is about relationships.

Our Parents as Teachers program supports families with young children, including pregnant and parenting teens, through consistent, relationship-based support.

An adult who shows up.
Who answers hard questions without judgment.

Who helps a young person think about their future and what they want for it.

Through home visits, real conversations, and support for the whole family, we help parents feel equipped and confident. And when that happens, young people are more likely to make informed, healthy choices.

Because when youth feel seen, supported, and connected, outcomes change.

Trauma doesn't always look the way we expect.

It looks like a kid who used to love school and suddenly doesn't want to go. A teenager who has always been steady who starts coming undone at the edges. A child who goes quiet in ways that feel different.

Behavioral signs of trauma are harder to see than physical ones. They look like a bad week, a rough patch, a personality shift. And because they look like something else, they get explained away. Sometimes for months.

If something feels off with a child in your life, trust that feeling. You don't need certainty to reach out. You just need to notice.

This is more than a job. It is a chance to show up in a way that changes lives.

Our Residential Advocates support individuals in our Archway program, providing a safe, stable, and trauma-informed environment for survivors of human trafficking as they begin to heal and rebuild.

This role is for someone who can:
• Lead with empathy and consistency
• Hold space for both challenge and growth
• Be part of a team committed to safety, dignity, and long-term healing

The work is meaningful. It is also real, demanding, and requires people who are grounded, compassionate, and ready to show up.

Foster Care Month is personal for us.

We serve foster youth every day. We sit with them in our advocacy center, walk alongside them as advocates, and support them through our Center for Resilience. We know what they carry. Which means we also know what their caregivers carry.

Foster parenting is extraordinary work. It is also exhausting, isolating, and frequently invisible. The people doing it rarely ask for help, even when they need it most.

So this May, we want to say: we see you. We are grateful to you. And we are here for you too, not just the children in your care.

If you need support, our Center for Resilience offers counseling for individuals and families. We accept Partnership HealthPlan and other private insurance.

You don't have to carry this alone.

Happy Mother’s Day

Today, we honor every woman who has loved, guided, and shown up for a child.

At Children’s Legacy Center, we walk alongside mothers, grandmothers, foster parents, and caregivers who step in and show up every day, often without recognition.

We also know this day can hold a mix of emotions.
For some, it is a celebration.
For others, it carries grief, healing, or complexity.

Wherever you find yourself today, you are not alone.

We are here for you when you are there for everyone else.

Some people don't just work at an organization. They grow with it.

Kaila started her career here supporting our residential youth as a Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist. Then she moved into case management, helping families navigate some of the most complicated systems imaginable. Now she sits across from children in our forensic interview room, creating safety in moments that require everything she has learned.

We asked her what keeps her coming back. Here's what she said:

“I stay because the work is meaningful, the purpose behind it matters, and there’s always something new to learn. Knowing that I’m part of work that makes a real difference is what keeps me here.”

We are grateful every day for the people who choose to grow with this work.
