🔥There is a large prescribed burn tonight, so there’s no need to call 911 or the fire department for smoke and flames seen in the area of Gore Ranch in southwest Redding area.

REDDING, CAL FIRE Shasta-Trinity Unit/Shasta County Fire Department personnel will be conducting a prescribed burning operation in Shasta County as part of ongoing efforts to reduce wildfire risk, improve rangeland conditions, and provide valuable
training opportunities for firefighters.

The project is scheduled to begin on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at approximately 6:00 p.m. and continue through the early morning hours of Friday, July 3, 2026.
Location: Gore Ranch
Acres: Approximately 46 acres

It’s not something you see every day, our 911 center is made up primarily of men today, which is rare in this field.

Dispatch has long been known as a female dominated profession, but here, it’s a team of dedicated men and women showing up every day with calm voices, quick thinking, and steady hands when it matters most.

Different backgrounds, same mission: being there when people need it most. 🚨
