If I accidentally call 911 can I just hang up?

No. NEVER hang up after calling 911. If you accidentally misdial 911, you cannot possibly hang up fast enough to cancel the call. Many 911 hang up calls are crimes in progress. We consider every 911 hang up to be an emergency unless we are able to verify otherwise. We always call 911 hang up calls back. If we receive an answering machine, no answer, busy signal, or the person sounds suspicious, law enforcement is immediately dispatched. In those situations, when we are able to reconnect with the caller we determine whether everything is ok. If it was a true accidental call an incident will be entered into our CAD system and cancelled without being dispatched.

It’s almost time! The Easter Bunny is coming to the Redfield Fire District! Mark your calendars for next Saturday, March 30! He will leave the fire station about 10 a.m. we will start traveling south then come back into town and head north! If you aren’t in the district feel free to park in the parking lot across from the ball field! Please be listening for the siren & PLEASE keep the kiddos back away from the road, we will stop for treats & photos if we see you out! The bunny & his helpers can’t wait to put smiles on little faces! Thank you to the fire department, auxiliary, Kent & Linda Taber, Jeff Webb & Joe Pederzolli for donating the treats for the bunny to hand out! See you next week! 🐰🚒

Nearly 20 years ago, the Wenz family donated a snowmobile to our department, allowing us to more efficiently respond to countless patients following snowmobile related incidents on the trail systems in both Redfield and Osceola and save several lives. Through the family’s continued support throughout the years and with a significant donation from them, we were able to purchase a new snowmobile and return this one to their family. We would like to thank both the Wenz family and our fabulous auxiliary for the donations and continuous support that made our new purchase possible! We are appreciative to all of the members of our community that continue to support us as well. Stay safe!
