RTFD car seat technicians are teaming up with Corewell Health at George Matick Chevrolet (14001 Telegraph Rd, Redford, MI 48239) for car seat safety checks!

When: Every third Wednesday of the month

Time: 10:00AM – 3:30 PM

How: By appointment only

Your car seat will be properly installed, and caregivers will be taught how to correctly install it themselves.

Crews had a great time helping students stay cool during Field Day events at schools throughout the township!

This is an event we’ve proudly participated in for many years, and it’s always a great way to help students kick off the start of summer.

This past Saturday,

Six members of Local 1206 spent two hours collecting donations for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). We are proud to announce that we surpassed last year’s total of $1,400 and raised $2,265 in just two hours!

We were blown away by the generosity and support from our community. Every donation helps make a difference in the lives of individuals and families affected by neuromuscular diseases.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by and donated. Your support truly makes a difference, and we couldn’t do it without you!

We swore in two new Probationary Firefighters, Kevin Krawczyk and Jake Bokuniewicz.

They will now begin their year-long probationary period as they start their careers serving the residents of Redford Township.

The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) is a nonprofit organization that supports people living with muscular dystrophy, ALS or other neuromuscular diseases.

When: Saturday 05/30/2026 from 10am-12pm

Where: The intersection of 5 Mile & Beech-Daly Rd

Since 1954 firefighters from across the country have been collecting donations to ensure effective treatment and therapies are found. The money that is raised through Fill the Boot funds MDA mission of empowering people living with neuromuscular disease to live longer, more independent lives.

Over the past few days,
Members of RTFD have been attending flashover training sponsored by the Plymouth Township Professional Firefighters

This type of training is critical for firefighters. A flashover is the near-simultaneous ignition of all combustible materials in an enclosed space, and recognizing the warning signs can truly be the difference between life and death on the fireground.

During this training, firefighters learn to identify the indicators leading up to a flashover and then experience a controlled flashover inside specialized training containers.

Seeing these conditions in a controlled environment gives our members real-world experience and helps prepare them to prevent, escape, or take cover if faced with a flashover during an actual fire.
