HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE DAY FAST APPROACHING.

Wayne County residents can drop off acceptable items on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at Westland Shopping Center in Westland from 8:00am to 1:00pm.

Any questions about the Household Hazardous Waste Program, contact the Wayne County Environmental Services Division at 734-326-3936. If you cannot make this date, one more county HHW collection event will follow in October, see date & location below.

Collection sites are open to all Wayne County residents and proof of County residency will be required. See list for acceptable items that can be dropped off for disposal. Please dispose of your household waste responsibly and utilize this county program while available.

BEECH DALY ROAD TO REOPEN BETWEEN LYNDON STREET AND IVANHOE STREET
(AUGUST 20, 2026):

Beech Daly Road between Lyndon Street and Ivanhoe Street is scheduled to reopen to traffic on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at 6:00 p.m.

Construction activities within this area have progressed to a point that allows for the safe restoration of vehicle travel through this corridor.

Please note, the southbound right lane closure on Beech Daly Road from Ivanhoe Street to Ross Drive will remain in place until approx. September 4, 2026 to allow for construction crews to safely install additional sewer lines related to the Central CSO Basin project on Graham Street. Motorists are encouraged to use caution, obey all posted signs and watch for construction personnel and equipment.

We appreciate the patience and cooperation from our residents, businesses and motorists throughout the construction period. And, thank you for your continued patience and support as we work to improve our community's infrastructure.

REDFORD TWP ROAD REPAIRS & RESURFACING - INKSTER ROAD:

The Wayne County Department of Public Services announces that an asphalt resurfacing and repair project on Inkster Road, between Schoolcraft Road & West Chicago Avenue will begin on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. The county anticipates that the contractor will be completed by Fall 2026 subject to weather conditions and unforeseen delays.

This project will have lane closures in both Redford Township and the City of Livonia and one lane of traffic in each direction will always remain open. Please be careful while traveling this corridor during this period while the crews are working and use an alternate route to avoid delays is advisable.

REDFORD TWP ROAD RESURFACING - SCHOOLCRAFT ROAD
(UPDATE 7/17/2026):
Due to air quality conditions, the repaving project scheduled for Schoolcraft Road, between Beech Daly Rd and Telegraph Rd by Wayne County Department of Public Services/Roads Division is postponed for Saturday, July 18, 2026. The county will review the future forecast and will provide a revised schedule once it becomes available.

The Wayne County Department of Public Services will continue their asphalt resurfacing project on Schoolcraft Road (eastbound only), between Beech Daly Road & Telegraph Road on Saturday, July 11, 2026 and July 18, 2026. The county anticipates being completed within the specified days with all eastbound lanes, subject to weather conditions and unforeseen delays.

This project will have lane/street closures and freeway ramp closures and will be implemented only during those hours as detailed. Please be careful while traveling this corridor during this period while the crews are working and use an alternate route to avoid delays is advisable.

The county anticipates being completed within the specified days with all lanes, subject to weather conditions and unforeseen delays.

This project will have lane closures and will be implemented only during those hours detailed. Please be careful while traveling this corridor during this period while the crews are working and use an alternate route to avoid delays is advisable.

RESIDENTS - EMERGENCY CHIPPING SERVICES AVAILABLE:

Redford Township will be offering emergency chipping services to residents affected by Friday's storm on July 3, 2026. The chipping services will begin on Wednesday, July 8 and run for approximately 2-3 weeks.

Residents must call the Redford Township Department of Public Services office at 313-387-2641 and provide your property address to our staff to be placed on the chipping service list. Please share this information with your neighbors if they are in need of assistance with chipping services.

Branches must be placed at the curb between the street and sidewalk, must be less than 5 inches in diameter, cut into lengths no longer than 8-10 feet and the cut ends must face the street. Stumps, logs, vines or root balls cannot be placed out for chipper disposal nor for weekly compost pickup.

Also, for additional services for trees located in the public right-of-way (between the sidewalk and street), that were damaged from the recent storm, please call the Wayne County DPS Hotline at 888-762-3273 and provide your property address for further assistance.

BEECH DALY ROAD CLOSURE UPDATE
(JULY 6, 2026):

As of 9:30 a.m. this morning (July 6), Beech Daly Road was fully closed between Lyndon Street and Graham Street for sewer work related to the Central CSO Basin project.

Construction work has begun with concrete saw cutting of the roadway and site excavation work is planned to begin on Tuesday.

PLEASE FOLLOW POSTED DETOURS AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE DURING THIS TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE.

REDFORD RESIDENTS, if you are going to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday with fireworks, please be aware and careful of your surroundings.

When you finish your celebration of fireworks, please clean up around your neighborhoods, streets and other areas. Follow state and local ordinances when sharing your fireworks experience and don't forget that fireworks should not be used in parks, schools or public property.

Be RESPECTFUL of OUR community and please don't leave your mess for someone else to pick up!

Please walk around and make sure there are no fireworks that have not exploded where children or adults can pick up and possibly harm themselves.
