Due to the expected extreme temperatures, Redford Township will open the Redford Community Center to Redford Township residents on Wednesday and Thursday from 8:30am-8:00pm. The Community Center is located at 12121 Hemingway, next to Handy Park.

Please limit outdoor exposure and check on your elderly neighbors. Do not use gas stoves to heat your home. Keep all pets indoors.

Congratulations Captain Porter!

Congratulations to Captain Sean Porter! Captain Porter is retiring with 26 years of dedication to the Redford Township Police Department. Rising through the ranks, Captain Porter served as a Patrolman before being promoted to the rank of Sergeant where he worked as a Road Supervisor and as a Detective Sergeant. After becoming a Lieutenant, Captain Porter took command of Delta Platoon, supervising one of our midnight shifts. In his final promotion to Captain in June of 2018, Captain Porter returned to the Detective Bureau as their commanding officer until his retirement. Collectively, Captain Porter spent 9 years in the DB.

Captain Porter is known as a prankster and the station will be a little quieter without his jokes and leadership. We wish him good luck in his future endeavors!!
