Multi-Phase Closure for SW Veterans Way Begins March 30

The City of Redmond will begin a multi phase closure of SW Veterans Way near SE 1st Street & SW Lake Road on March 30, 2026. The closure is needed to construct a new roundabout connecting SW Veterans Way, SE 1st Street, the newly aligned SE Airport Way and its northern extension to OR 126.

A temporary access road will be provided to maintain local access. Flaggers will be used to support traffic management during active construction. To reduce daytime disruptions, night work will take place May 11–22, 2026. Immediately before the roundabout opens to traffic, a full weekend closure will occur on June 6–7, 2026 to complete final paving and tie in work.

This project is part of the City’s Eastside Arterial Project and will improve long term traffic flow and connectivity on Redmond’s east side.

The roundabout is tentatively scheduled for completion in the fall of 2026.

Construction updates, detour information, and phase schedules will be shared as work progresses. For more information about the Eastside Arterial Project please visit the website at www.redmondoregon.gov/eastsidearterial.

I am grateful for our community members who stepped up to make these donations possible and the efforts of our Community Partner NeighborImpact! The need is still there so please keep helping these hardworking men and women as best you can!

When paychecks stop, the impact is immediate— our community steps up.

NeighborImpact provided more than $5,000 in gift cards to help local TSA officers and their families keep groceries on the table and everyday essentials within reach while pay remains disrupted.

At Redmond Municipal Airport, TSA officers continue reporting to work without pay due to a partial federal government shutdown affecting the Department of Homeland Security. This disruption puts real pressure on basic needs like food, gas, and housing.

In response, RDMRedmondAirport is hosting a community donation drive, collecting nonperishable food, household essentials, and gift cards to support staff during this time. NeighborImpact contributed 70 gift cards valued at $75 each—one for every TSA employee affected.

NeighborImpact is grateful to Jersey Boys Pizzeria for hosting a fundraiser day in support of this effort, and to the community members who made targeted gifts to help purchase the gift cards. We’re proud to stand with our neighbors and support the people who keep our community moving. Jersey Boys Pizzeria

A Holiday Message and Grace for the Past Year~

This year has been a lesson in grace — the kind we give, the kind we receive, and the kind we learn to extend to ourselves. Between the demands of public service, the constant motion of business, and the quiet, sacred responsibility of caring for family, especially my mom, I’ve been reminded again and again that strength doesn’t always look like momentum. Sometimes it looks like patience, presence, and choosing to keep showing up.

In politics, this year asked for resilience and clarity. It pushed me to listen more deeply, speak more intentionally, and stay rooted in the values that brought me into public service in the first place: community, accountability, and the belief that we can build something better together.

In business, it was a year of adapting, refining, and finding opportunity in unexpected places. I’m grateful for the clients, colleagues, and partners who trusted me to help them navigate complexity with honesty and creativity.

And at home, caring for my mom has been both grounding and humbling. It’s a reminder that the most important work we do is often the quietest — the kind that doesn’t show up in headlines or reports, but shapes who we are.

As we look toward the coming year, I’m carrying forward gratitude for the people who have walked alongside me, challenged me, supported me, and believed in the work. I’m hopeful for a year of deeper connection, clearer purpose, and continued service — in community, in business, and in family.

Wishing you a season filled with warmth, rest, and the kind of peace that lasts long after the holidays end. Here’s to grace behind us, hope ahead of us, and the good we’ll build together in the year to come.

I am deeply saddened this week by the passing of my friend, Victoria Mccurry Heaven has gained an extraordinary soul, but here on earth we will feel the absence of her gift for advocacy, and the clarity and conviction she brought to every table.
Victoria’s support was never just encouragement—it was a steady hand, a voice of reason, and a constant reminder that purpose and integrity must guide each step we take. Her presence shaped my journey in profound ways, and I know that I, along with the many others she inspired, will strive to honor her by living with the same focus, compassion, and strength she embodied every day.
My heart goes out to her family, who were her light and her greatest loves. May they find comfort in knowing that her legacy continues in all of us who were touched by her wisdom and grace.

Today, we remember. Twenty-four years ago, our nation was forever changed. On September 11, 2001, I was living just outside Quantico in Stafford, Virginia — far from the Pentagon, far from the smoke and chaos that filled the air that morning. But like millions of Americans, I felt the shock, the grief, and the unity that swept across our country.

I remember where I was when the news broke. I remember the disbelief, the phone calls to loved ones, the quiet streets that followed. And I remember the way neighbors, strangers, and communities came together — not just in the days after, but in the months and years that followed.

Patriot Day is not only a time to honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost in New York, Arlington, and Shanksville. It is a day to recognize the courage of first responders, the resilience of survivors, and the enduring spirit of a nation that refused to be broken.

May we never forget the lessons of that day: that freedom is precious, that unity is powerful, and that even in our darkest hours, hope can light the way forward

I was honored to Celebrate the official groundbreaking of Heart of Oregon Corps’ Redmond Campus today!

Witnessing this community come together to invest in our region’s youth reminded me why public service is so rewarding.

What This Campus Means for Our Community
~ A 3.4-acre, $7.3 million facility creating a dedicated workforce development hub

~ Programs tailored for Opportunity Youth ages 16–24 to overcome barriers like lack of parental support, homelessness and generational poverty

~ Hands-on training and certifications in construction, wildland firefighting, childcare, and public lands conservation.

I cannot wait for the ribbon cutting this time next year!

Yesterday, a constituent asked why I was not in favor of flying another country's flag over City Hall; they were disappointed I did not agree with their request. Since it's easy to twist words that were not heard, here is my opinion for the record.

To me, our municipal government exists to serve every resident equally, regardless of political belief or personal identity. When we choose to fly a flag representing a particular cause or movement, we risk sending the message that some voices matter more than others. The cruel finality of a hateful act reminds us that symbols carry weight—and in government spaces, that weight must be shared by all. Public buildings and flagpoles are common ground, and the symbols flown there should unite us under what we all share, not divide us along what we debate. By keeping our flag displays limited to official government symbols, we preserve trust, avoid legal risk, and ensure that every resident knows their city stands for them.

I know some may not agree, and that's okay

Okay Redmond, Legal fireworks are allowed through 12:01AM July 5th. Legal fireworks, in Oregon, are limited to ground-based devices that produce sparks, smoke, or fire, but do not explode or launch into the air. Common examples include fountains, flitter sparklers, ground spinners, and some novelty items. Fireworks that fly into the air or explode, like bottle rockets and Roman candles, are illegal

Let's have a safe and fun 4th, be respectful of your neighbors and practice good fireworks safety! If you see bad actors, use the City's citizen complaint process and report via email at [email protected].
Let's put a stop to illegal fireworks so you can continue to celebrate next year.

Oregon officials are urging residents to take extra precautions this week amid high heat and dry conditions. Numerous brush fires have already scorched multiple acres across the state.

I know the May election has come and gone, but I keep hearing that people don't care so they didn't vote. In my opinion, people don't vote when they believe that their vote won't matter or that the majority has already decided the course of action (right, it's the same thing). Electeds across this state need to pay more attention to the people as a whole instead of the parties and institutions that paid for their campaigns. I am still listening Redmond, but I agree it can be an uphill battle.

I would like to personally thank Redmond Fire & Rescue and all the other responding fire departments for their quick response, collaboration and cooperation in handling the Euston Fire yesterday. Given the complexity of location and events your teamwork, inter agency cooperation and get it done attitude were tantamount in putting this fire out. I and my client cannot thank you enough.
