Earlier this month, Brandon attended the Washington State Nonprofit Conference in Tacoma, hosted by the Nonprofit Association of Washington. Our team also had the opportunity to participate in the virtual conference sessions and learn alongside nonprofit organizations from across Washington.

It was encouraging to hear the stories, challenges, and successes of so many organizations dedicated to serving their communities. We are grateful for opportunities like these that allow us to learn, connect, and grow.

We're also excited to share that Behind the Badge Foundation is now a member of the Nonprofit Association of Washington. We look forward to being part of this network and continuing to build relationships with others who are committed to making a difference.

Thank you, NAWA, for bringing nonprofits together and fostering a spirit of collaboration throughout our state.

On Saturday, May 2, we stood together at the Washington State Law Enforcement Memorial on the Olympia Capitol Campus to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities.

During the Peace Officers Memorial / Medal of Honor Ceremony, four Washington State law enforcement professionals were honored posthumously:

• Charles Ed Ray – Everett Police Department – 12.31.1906 – Medal of Honor Recipient
• Jay Miller – Washington State Department of Corrections – 02.11.2023
• Ken B. Salas – Spokane County Sheriff's Office – 08.09.2025 – Medal of Honor Recipient
• Tara-Marysa M. Guting – Washington State Patrol – 12.19.2025 – Medal of Honor Recipient

Each name represents a life of service, a family forever changed, and a legacy that will continue to be honored by the communities they served.

Some competitors hit every target. Brian kept everyone humble. 😆

The 2nd Annual Sporting Clay Competition at Landt Farms Sporting Clays, hosted in partnership with the Washington State Sheriffs’ Association and Seattle's Finest Security and Traffic Control, was a huge success. Blue skies, shattered clays, great competition, and an even better community made for an incredible day in support of our mission of Serving Those Who Serve®.

A huge thank you to our major sponsors, Group Murr and MacKay Manufacturing, along with our other event sponsors, Landt Farms, Raleigh and the team at Seattle’s Finest, the competitors, volunteers, and everyone from the Sheriff’s Association who helped make this event possible

Honor Guard service is more than ceremony. It is tradition, discipline, service, and the sacred responsibility of honoring our fallen.

During this week of training, 136 attendees representing 48 agencies across 3 states came together for the 2026 Regional Honor Guard Training to strengthen their skills, share experience, and invest in the next generation who will carry this mission forward.

From instruction on drill skills, flag folding, and the family es**rt detail to conversations around wellness and secondary trauma, this training was tailored to both practical instruction and the importance of looking out for of those who do this important work.

This training helps ensure the continuity, professionalism, and excellence of Honor Guard service for years to come. These dedicated individuals provide ongoing care and honor for our fallen, their families, and their communities.

We are deeply grateful to our instructors, speakers, volunteers, and community partners who helped bring this training to life, with special thanks to the following partners for their generous support:
Gesa Credit Union, Blue Hero Project, The Soup Ladies, 7 Seas Brewing Co., Champions Centre, Marriott Tacoma Downtown
