We are pleased to introduce our new program series: Creative Roots/Raíces Creativas. Celebrate Latin American art and culture with this series of hands-on activities and performances for all ages.

This program series is sponsored by the Redwood City Arts Commission with additional support from the Friends of the Redwood City Public Library.

Participants will paint an Indigenous traditional dancer on canvas using a photo reference of a Mexika dancer photographed by workshop facilitator Elizabeth Jiménez Montelongo. Program offered in English.

Families! On September 16 at 6pm, come to the Downtown Library for Family Game Night! Celebrate Welcoming Week with an evening of fun, laughter, and friendly competition. Bring the whole family to enjoy a variety of board games, card games and group activities for all ages. Meet Redwood City Together’s teen Promotores, make new friends and discover how games can bring people together across cultures and generations.

Join us in celebrating Welcoming Week, September 10–19, with events throughout Redwood City that explore how we can break down barriers and create a greater sense of belonging for everyone.

Redwood City Public Library is hosting several special events throughout the week. Families can enjoy Welcoming Week Storytimes at all three library locations, while teens can make buttons and yard signs during Lowkey Creative at the Downtown Library Teen Center. Family Game Night invites all ages to meet Redwood City Together’s teen Promotores, make new friends and discover how games can bring people together across cultures and generations.

Additional community events include a YMCA coffee tasting, Fair Oaks Community Center college information session, a plant-themed afternoon at Friendship Park, Fiestas Patrias at Courthouse Square, the Welcoming Stars celebration, the CARON Resource Fair, Salsa Dancing at Casa Circulo Cultural, and a Futsal, Art and Games Social at the Siena Youth Center.

Pronunciator is a fun and free way to learn any of 163 languages with self-directed lessons, live teachers, movies, music, and more.

You must have a valid Redwood City Library card (starting with '29045'). Learn at your own pace or join a live teaching session. Each week there are 256 live 30-minute classes available.
