8th grade students wrapped up our study of the American Industrial Age and Early Modern Era with oral presentations exploring how this pivotal period continues to shape life in America today.

Topics included:
• Yellow Journalism: Did the News Start a War?
• Locked Doors, Lost Lives: What the Triangle Fire Revealed About Labor Conditions
• Rags and Riches: The Gilded Age
• Lights On: How Electricity Changed Everyday Life
• The Long Road to the 19th Amendment
• Coney Island: America’s First Theme Park? (complete with a saltwater taffy sample!)

From labor rights and voting rights to mass media, technology, and entertainment, students examined the lasting impact of the innovations, challenges, and reforms that helped shape modern America.
