"Silicon Valley Pride returns to downtown San Jose this weekend with the traditional parade and a cheaper to attend festival than last year’s. The 2026 theme is “Flourish and Bloom.”

Marqus Koranteng, a gay man who is Silicon Valley Pride’s chief entertainment officer, told the B.A.R. in a phone interview that a full weekend pass to the festival – which runs from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday, August 29, and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, August 30 – will be $33, with a price of $27.87 for Saturday only and $17.25 for Sunday only. Tickets are also available for purchase online."

Have questions about local government? Want to learn from and interact with department heads and other County leaders? Then Civics 101 is for you! Application deadline is August 26

The Civics 101 Academy is a free course that provides an in-depth look at County programs, services, finances and initiatives. The Academy will cover topics such as health, the justice system, public safety, human services, elections, parks, libraries, public finance, sustainability and more, and participants will have some fun along the way!

• Refreshments are served, and participants receive a completion certificate.

• Class meets at County Government Center in Redwood City
on nine consecutive Wednesday evenings, starting Sep. 2.
