For many children, the first person they tell is a trusted adult. How that adult responds can make a lasting difference.

If a child shares concerns about abuse, staying calm and supportive is important. Let them know you believe them. Thank them for telling you. Focus on helping them feel safe.

If a child is in immediate danger, call 911. Otherwise, contact your county social services agency to make a report and allow trained professionals to respond appropriately.

Children should never feel responsible for proving what happened. A supportive, steady response can help a child feel heard, protected, and supported during a very difficult moment.

As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to a close, the reminder continues: emotional well-being matters every day of the year.

At Child’s Place, we see the importance of support, connection, and compassionate responses during some of the hardest moments a child or family may face. Healing does not happen all at once, and no family should have to navigate that journey alone.

Thank you to the caregivers, professionals, advocates, and community members who help create safe and supportive spaces for children every day.

Awareness matters. Support matters. And showing up for children matters.

The Child’s Place Golf Scramble is about more than a day on the course.

It’s about our community coming together to support children and families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

Sometimes support means helping a child move forward in a way that restores their sense of safety and dignity. Through collaboration and coordinated care, children can receive support that helps them move beyond lasting reminders of abuse and take important steps in their healing process.

Healing is not only about the moment a child shares their experience. It is also about the support, advocacy, and care that follow.

At Child’s Place, we work alongside children, caregivers, and community partners to help create pathways toward healing, stability, and hope.

Mental Health Awareness Month is a reminder that supporting children’s mental health is not the responsibility of one person or one organization alone. It takes a community.

Teachers, caregivers, neighbors, coaches, advocates, and trusted adults all help create safe, supportive environments where children can feel heard, valued, and protected.

At Child’s Place, we see the impact that compassionate, coordinated support can have on a child and family during difficult moments. Small acts of care, patience, and understanding can make a lasting difference in a child’s healing journey.

Together, we can help children feel supported, safe, and never alone.
