📖✨ Feast of Saint Wenceslaus – September 28 ✨📖

Today we remember Saint Wenceslaus (907–935), Duke of Bohemia and patron saint of the Czech people.

Wenceslaus was raised in the Christian faith by his grandmother, St. Ludmila, and became known as a just and compassionate ruler. He cared for the poor, promoted peace, and sought to live out the Gospel in both his leadership and personal life.

His devotion to Christ and his people, however, led to conflict. In 935, he was betrayed and murdered by his own brother, Boleslaus, near the doors of a church in Stará Boleslav. Wenceslaus’s martyrdom quickly inspired veneration, and he was proclaimed a saint soon after his death.

Centuries later, his legacy was immortalized in the carol “Good King Wenceslaus,” reminding the world of his generosity and care for those in need.

On this feast day, we honor his example of faith, courage, charity — and the enduring spirit of the Czech people who carry on his memory. 🇨🇿🙏
