What an Awesome turnout yesterday!!! We are truly blessed by so many friends who came to our 100th Ranch anniversary celebration and Herb & Connie's 40th wedding anniversary. A day now apart of the continuing history of the Bue families foresight! Buzzing from friend to friend; seeing neighbors who are only a few miles apart yet because our busy lifestyles we rarely get to see one another, and telling stories of the past with others.....it was a wonderful day!
We took some 40 8mm films to Costco and had them digitized and played that video twice....most were from the early 1950's telling the stories of moving the sheep from Work Creek to the High mountains for summer grazing; or working cattle in our Curtis corrals, the Bue girls playing outside....dressed alike in almost every movie....or Stevie(age 3) and Herbie (age 1) walking a short way into Reed to ship the fall lambs!! Great old family movies....
But the best part was doing a Time Capsule from our dear Friend Wendy who put the whole thing together==set to open again in another 100 years...but I doubt we can wait that long to see what people had to say about the Work Creek Cattle Ranch and our family!
We are keeping the time capsule open for a few "late" entries and anyone who wants to still wants to contribute to it...just let us know and we'll send you the questionnaire!
More later.....we are pooped!!!!!!

Tomorrow is the Big 100th Ranch Anniversary & our (Herb & Connie) 40th wedding Anniversary....who would of thought the two would be in the same year! We sure didn't back 40 years ago!
The home place is spit shined or sort of....but for 100 years old we are just glad most of the original buildings are still standing!!
With the Good Grace of God and weather willing, we will sure enjoy the company of our family and good friends to gather here tomorrow and put us into the record books as a true Century old Montana Ranch.
We still do things the "old way" or as Herb puts it....my way or the highway!! So you just can't teach an "old" dog new tricks.
But we enjoy what we do and love the lifestyle we are afforded.
Welcome to our Ranch and take part in the festivities!!

Many Homesteaders in this area put everything they had into the land they settled during the early days of homesteading. Many of those names are what we refer to today as the "pastures" of those men and women who first called them home. Those homesteads were lost to bank mortgages they couldn't pay and are now part of the Bue Ranch. Names such as Kinder, Huff, Tom Benson, Brown, Tuften, Terderland, Widdicomb, Price, Ross, Gazon, Payton, Burrison, Levy & Iserman.
Carl and Inga worked hard to maintain their land and through their hard work and optimistic vision, they remained steadfast in their goal....to make it in America.
The Norwegian blood of solid convictions and ruthlessness made them who they were and the pair remained strong and built a ranch out of the desperation of others who could make it work during the Great Depression.
