Kings River

Kings River The King River is a hard working river. It accomplishes many things as it flows form it's origins in the snow melt of the Sierra Nevada mountains.

It is beautiful, and provides lakes, boating, fishing, electricity, and water for the Valley's crops. For Information about floating on the Kings River please call The Wakehouse @ (559) 637-9000

I took this picture on Monday February 2nd. I guess the moisture level in the soil has reached saturation in some areas because the Kings River is running muddy water. I think that means it's runoff from below the dam.

I have some bad news. I read that the Fresno County Board of Supervisors have closed the Kings River from Hwy 180 to 70 yards below the Goodfellow Bridge. Which closes it all the way to Reedley, unless you have a private access somewhere along the way. They cited the dangerous conditions due to construction of the new bridge. You can float from Kelly's Beach to Reedley Beach.

The river is running HIGH. Reedley Beach and Cricket Hollow are closed to traffic, but people are walking in. IDK if they will get run out if there gets to be too many, but in Reedley it's likely. Use common sense. Swimming is unsafe., Again, swimming is unsafe.

Is anyone interested in a GPS game. That's where I go out along the river somewhere and hide something, then come back here and post the approx gps co-ords and directions to follow. If you find it you have to put another gift in it's place and report back to this page. Or you could put you gift somewhere else and post it's location here. The gifts are small tokens, not valuable prizes. Any Interest?

I saw a pickup in the river the other day just south of the RB Oliver Bridge. Anyone know if they got it out, or have any pictures?

I still say Reedley Beach is my best guess. I think those big Eucalyptus trees are at the corner of Olsen and Reed top of the hill. I just can't place there being that much sand on the Cricket Hollow side of the bridge yet this year. Am I right?

I would say that last picture was taken at Reedley Beach, but I thought you would be busted if you did that....
