It's that time of the year where foggy season is upon us and in full swing. Here are some safety tips that we all should keep in mind while traversing the roadways in adverse foggy conditions.

Fog, especially Tule Fog, can turn a normal drive into a dangerous one and fast. If you happen to be driving out in the area, give yourself some extra time and drive for the conditions.

Whether you're driving to school, work, or an appointment, always leave a little earlier than you would on a normal day with no weather conditions, that way if the conditions warrant your driving habits in the fog more than they normally would, you still have ample time to get to your destination.

Fog safety reminders:

• Slow down and increase your following distance
• Use low-beam headlights (high beams reflect off water droplets within fog, greatly reducing visibility. This is especially dangerous if your vehicle is equipped with LED high beams)
• Turn your headlights fully ON (not just DRLs/AUTO) so your tail lights are on, too
• Avoid sudden lane changes and signal early
• If visibility gets too low, safely exit the roadway and park in a safe location (off the travel lanes)

Just remember always be prepared to stop within half the range of your vision, because if you cannot see them, then they cannot see you.

Your Reedley Firefighter's would like to remind the public as storms approach the area, it is important to remember to reduce your speed and remain vigilant of your surroundings while driving. Be cautious of flooded roadways and always wear your seatbelt.

Just remember you must turn on your headlights when snow, rain, fog, or other hazardous weather condition requires the continuous use of windshield wiper.

Reedley Firefighter's stands strong with our brothers and sisters of the Coeur d'Alene Fire Department and the Kootenai County Fire & Rescue in the midst of an unthinkable, senseless, and most of all, disgusting act of violence against first responders.

We're always told to expect the unexpected, but absolutely none of these firefighters expected to be the targets in ones rifle scope. Our thoughts and prayers are with them, and especially the ones who worked along side them that day.

There needs to be some real accountability for what is transpiring in LA with the appointed members of the city council, Mayor Bass, and the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Transparency is the single most important thing any one city/department leader can do. It not only raises questions about certain issues, but it also puts some of them to bed.

We hope that LAFD and Kristian Crowley find the answers that they're looking for thru this mess. It's very apparent that the finger pointing game is being swayed in one direction, which doesn't solve the bigger issue at hand. In fact all it's like putting a bandaid on a cut that keep bleeding uncontrollably!!!

Repost

It is outrageous that the City Council has scheduled, on just 24-hour notice, a “Special Meeting” for Friday at 5:00pm in the Valley to hear Chief Crowley’s appeal of her dismissal as Fire Chief.

This is an example of why the public doesn’t trust City Hall and the constant missteps that we have seen our city leaders make since the fires broke out on January 7th. This is not transparent, fair, or just. It’s yet another public blunder coming out of City Hall that makes the people of Los Angeles continue to question the motives and trustworthiness of our city’s leaders.

Despite the manufactured reasons that have been publicly offered for her termination, the reality is Kristin Crowley was fired for telling the truth.

Our rank-and-file firefighters on the ground strongly support Chief Crowley. They know the truth, we have her back, and we will fight for her right to set the record straight.

This is the first City Council meeting that we are aware of, perhaps ever, that has been scheduled on 24-hour notice for a Friday at 5:00pm. It’s obvious that some on the City Council are attempting to bury this issue when nobody is watching and holding them accountable. City Council Members will have to ask themselves if this is the way they want to decide the fate of our Fire Chief. What’s happening is wrong, and everyone knows it.
