There is still free food available at the library, left over from today's Summer Reading Program Finale. Please visit the library for free sandwiches, fruit, vegetables, and sodas during our open hours, while supplies last.

The library's hours are 10 am to 8 pm today (Wednesday, August 26th) and 10 am to 6 pm tomorrow (Thursday, August 27th).

Looking to visit a park to enjoy the summer weather? Oregon State Parks Day Use Parking Permits are available for checkout at the Lower Umpqua Library. Borrowing is for a period of seven days, with a limit of one pass per household.

Outdoor recreation equipment, such as hiking sticks, bicycle locks, and compasses are also available for checkout.

The Summer Reading Program is off to a great start. We have 72 preschool, elementary, and teens signed up so far. If you have not signed up, come see us at the library.

This Wednesday, 7/1/26 at 11:00 we will have the Reedsport Volunteer Fire Department joining us to talk about fire safety. They will bring their truck as well. Have you ever wondered what they carry with them on their truck to emergencies? They will be happy to show you all the little compartments.

Just a side note, if we are having a hot day, the air conditioning is always on at the library. Come down during open hours to cool off and read a book or a magazine.

Summer Reading Program 2026 is almost here! Come to the library on June 17 for the Kickoff. The Friends of the Library have paid for Salty Dog Hot Dogs to provide hot dogs, chips, and soda. Sign up for the program, enjoy music, face painting, and activities. Read for a chance to win great prizes. Events and activities will happen every Wednesday at 11:00.

Lower Umpqua Library will be at the Pop Up Vendor Market on the corner of 4th and Fir, by Creative Mercantile, June 5 from 2:00 to 7:00. If you would like to sign up for a library card, come by our table with an ID with a local address, or mail with the same name as what is on your ID and we can get you signed up. There are lots of great things happening at the library.
