Summer Heat Outlook:
The National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center has some news: the Northeast and much of the US are in for five months of hotter-than-usual temperatures. For our elderly friends, little ones, those without homes, and folks with health conditions, this heat can be a bit tough.

If you're a caregiver, it's a good idea to touch base with local health officials to see what you can do to get ready. Many towns and cities have set up cooling centers and resilience centers to help everyone stay cool. The American Red Cross also has some great tips on preparing for extreme heat. While we can't change the weather, we can definitely help keep our loved ones safe and comfortable. Stay cool out there and be a buddy for those in need.

Heat waves recently extended across nearly 30 percent of the world’s oceans, an expanse equivalent to the surface area of North America, Asia, Europe and Africa.

Continuing rising temperatures are forecast literally around the world. We will feel these in the US, especially those that don't have the recources to keep cool. DeIPL is working with other groups to help those that can't help themselves and those that also wish to do the same. Learn and help.

The probable switch from El Niño to La Niña increases the risk of a hot summer and possibly the hottest on record.
