ROCKINGHAM COUNTY REGISTER OF DEEDS·THURSDAY, JANUARY 25, 2018·
The Register of Deeds is an elected official and the office is part of Rockingham County Government. Our main purpose is, first and foremost, the recording and maintenance of records which include deeds, deeds of trusts, Powers of Attorneys and Assumed Name Certificates. These new records and

updates need to be properly processed so that researchers can locate a record within due diligence while conducting a search of any type. In addition to the filing of “land records”, we also issue marriage licenses, commission notary oaths, provide certified copies of records such as birth, death and marriage certificates in our office, and assist the public with basic navigation of the records. Our office works closely with various other county departments such as the Tax Department, Planning & Inspections and Environmental Health to help ensure the accuracy of property ownership and parcel information.
