🚨 BURN BAN IN EFFECT FOR EAST COCALICO TOWNSHIP 🚨

Due to ongoing dry conditions and the increased risk of wildfire, a burn ban is now in effect through July 16, 2026, unless lifted earlier or extended by further action.

Open burning is prohibited. Open burning is defined as the ignition and subsequent burning of any combustible material, including garbage, leaves, grass, twigs, litter, paper, vegetative matter involved with land clearing, or any other type of debris, outdoors in a burn barrel (screened or unscreened), fire ring, or directly on the ground.

The use of fireworks is also prohibited due to the unpredictable nature of their trajectory and the potential for these devices to cause damage in residential areas.

The only exemption to this burn ban is fires used exclusively for food preparation, such as cooking on a grill.

We appreciate everyone's cooperation in helping protect our community, our first responders, and our natural resources. Thank you for doing your part to help prevent wildfires and keep East Cocalico Township safe.

Due to the fact that West Cocalico Township is in a Drought Warning, open burning is no longer permitted. Burn permits will not be issued until after the Drought Warning is lifted. Those with burn permits are no longer allowed to burn.
There have been many field fires in the last few days due to people burning and a spark getting away.
