Earlier today, Chief Billy Young and the Lowndes County Fire Rescue team stopped by Lowndes Middle School to visit with 6th Grade Science teachers and students and deliver fire suppression blankets for their classrooms and hands-on learning.

Thank you to our local educators for the important work you do every day, and to our firefighters for always finding ways to serve and support our community! ๐Ÿš’โœ๏ธ

Vikings supporting the community!

Superintendent Sandra Wilcher, Athletic Director Josh Akers, and Public Relations Director Lauren Odom attended Blazer Walk to cheer on the team as they made their way into the stadium!

All VSU alumni, (and Odom a Red Hots Dance team alum!) they enjoyed rooting on the Blazers while also catching up with fellow leaders and friends in education, including VSU President Dr. Don Green, VSU Athletic Director Troy Katen, Wiregrass Georgia Technical College President DeAnnia Clements, and Technical System of Georgia Commissioner, Greg Dozier.

Itโ€™s always great to see education and community come together!

Go Blazers! Go Vikings! Go community partnerships!

This afternoon, when we were alerted that the City of Lake Park was under a boil water advisory, our community partners at The Home Depot quickly jumped in to help!

Home Depot donated plenty of bottled water to Lake Park Elementary without hesitation, helping ensure our students and staff had what they needed and the school day could continue without missing a beat.

We are so grateful for our Community Partners in Education who are always ready to step up when our schools need them. Thank you, Home Depot!

September is Su***de Prevention Month. ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿฉต

About 1 in 5 high school students report seriously considering su***de. Behind that number are students, families and stories that matter.

Our school social workers and support staff are here to listen, connect students with resources and remind them that they donโ€™t have to navigate hard moments alone.

You are not alone. Help is here.

If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text **988** to reach the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.
