The Remsen Central School District, which includes the townships of Boonville, Forestport, Ohio, Remsen, Russia, Steuben, and Trenton, has an enrollment of approximately 443 students and has 94 instructional and non-school related staff members. The campus consists of a junior high-high school, an elementary school, and a bus maintenance and storage facility. The elementary school (Grades Pre-K -6) and the Junior-Senior High School (7-12) boasting excellent library-media centers, state-of-the-art distance learning facility (Jr./Sr. High), gymnasium/auditoriums, cafeterias, stationary and mobile computer labs, and music and art rooms. In addition to its school buildings and bus garage, the Remsen Central School District has athletic fields for baseball, softball, soccer and track. On December 13, 2016, district residents approved a Capital Project totaling $8.7 million to enhance its facilities in order to continue to provide its students with a modern and up-to-date learning atmosphere. The District recently completed renovation projects totaling $4.529 million to enhance its facilities in order to continue to provide its students with a safe, modern and up-to-date learning atmosphere.

On Friday, June 19th, the Class of 2026 was celebrated at the Remsen Central School District's 127th Annual Commencement Ceremony. Seniors took the stage to be recognized and celebrated for their hard work and achievements throughout their time at Remsen CSD. Valedictorian, Ellie Secor, and Salutatorian, Makayla Wilcox shared memories and words of encouragement with their classmates, friends, and family members, during each of their speeches. Awards and Diplomas were presented by Principal, Sanya Pelrah and Superintendent, Timothy Jenny. Following the ceremony, friends, family, and community members were invited to continue the celebration with a magnificent fireworks display, made possible by several generous donors.

On Thursday, June 18th, the Class of 2038 took the stage for their Kindergarten Celebration. Our Kindergarten students came to the celebration with several songs prepared to perform for their families to demonstrate some of the concepts and skills that they have learned in Kindergarten. Mrs. Hill, Mrs. Wilson and Principal Lamphere presented certificates to each of our Kindergarten students and congratulated them for their completion of Kindergarten. A beautiful slide show of pictures from throughout the school year was shown for students, family and friends to enjoy.

It was a special event and a great celebration of our Kindergarten students and their success this year!

On Wednesday, June 17th, the Elementary School held their annual Olympic Day. Planned and organized by PE teacher, Mr. Crossley, Olympic Day is a day full of outdoor activities including Spiderball, 4 Court Volleyball, bicycles, waterslides and much more. Students look forward to the fun each year. Classes travel from one activity to another throughout the day, enjoying fun with friends and lots of outdoor activity. Lunch is always a yummy picnic style meal including hotdogs fresh from the grill.

This year, as a special event, the Remsen PTG sponsored one of the stations, providing a dunk tank, popsicles and popcorn for students. Each class was able to enjoy a brief snack break while taking turns attempting to dunk various teachers and staff members.

Olympic Day is an all day event, requiring help from many hands in order to make it possible. Thank you to our teachers and staff members, as well as our many Jr./Sr. high volunteers that worked to make this special day possible for our students. Thank you also to our PTG for the treats and the very popular dunk tank.

It has become quite the tradition and something that every fourth and fifth grade student looks forward to each year, the Annual Elementary Math Day event. Each year, Mrs. Runninger challenges her fifth graders to design and build a fun, carnival style game for the fourth grade students to play. The catch is, that the game not only has to be fun, it must also require the use of math in order to be played.

The fifth grade students remember the fun of participating in the games as a fourth grade student and they always work hard to create a fun new game to present to this year's fourth grade students. This year we had a few water games, jump roping, obstacle courses, dodgeball, and more. Our fifth grade students did an excellent job creating the games and our fourth graders clearly enjoyed playing (and solving) their way through each of the games.

We look forward to Math Day next year when our current fourth graders get a chance as fifth grade math students to create the math fun for the new fourth graders.

On Monday, June 15th, the class of 2026 made the annual walk of the graduating class through the halls of the Elementary School and the Jr./Sr. High School. Our seniors, dressed in their caps and gowns, parade through the halls as the underclassmen and staff cheer and congratulate them on reaching this tremendous milestone. It is always neat to see all of our students and staff members cheering on our seniors as they get ready to graduate.

On Friday, June 12th, students in Pre-K through 6th grade took an exciting look into the future during Remsen Elementary’s annual Career Day! Organized by Elementary School Counselor Mrs. Manley, the event welcomed 13 local professionals to share insights into their workplaces, industries, and the skills needed to succeed.

Throughout the day, classrooms rotated through six engaging, 20-minute sessions. The diverse lineup of presenters offered students a firsthand look at a wide range of unique career paths.

Members of the Remsen Fire Department, STaR Ambulance, and Oneida County Sheriff's Department provided live demonstrations and interactive experiences. In addition to learning from local first responders, students learned about protecting forests and fighting forest fires with Ranger Pelrah, met adorable baby goats courtesy of Spring Creek Lavender Farm, and learned about keeping their teeth strong and healthy from Dr. Mic from Kidsteethonly.

"It’s important to begin career exploration early," noted Mrs. Manley. "During May and June, our monthly guidance lessons focused on learning about different careers and developing career goals. Career Day brought all of that learning to life in a meaningful and exciting way."

The event serves as the perfect capstone to the school's spring guidance curriculum. Presenters praised the students for their enthusiasm, curiosity, and thoughtful questions throughout the day.

On Wednesday, June 10th, 2026, the Remsen Jr./Sr. High School community gathered for the annual JV/Varsity Athletic Awards ceremony to honor the hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship of our student-athletes.

It was an wonderful evening of celebration that highlighted both athletic excellence and academic dedication, featuring the presentation of varsity letters, plaques, trophies, and the well-deserved recognition of our outstanding Scholar-Athletes and Scholar-Teams.

Throughout the event, each of our coaches took the stage to present awards and share pride-filled remarks, highlighting the major milestones and accomplishments of our Remsen athletes over the course of the 2025-2026 school year. In additional to coaches remarks, Mrs. Jamie Dening presented two beautiful photo slideshows of our student-atheletes to visually represent their hard work, dedication and success in photos taken throughout the Fall, Winter, and Spring sports seasons.

Congratulations to all of our Remsen student-athletes! We are proud of everything you have accomplished this year, both on the field of play and in the classroom. Go Rams!

We are very proud of our seniors!
The class of 2026 will be taking the stage tomorrow evening to celebrate their time here at Remsen Central School District. Each day, throughout the month of June, we've highlighted two of our graduating seniors.

Our final two seniors that we would like to highlight today are Makayla Wilcox and Shawna Williams. Congratulations to both Makayla and Shawna!

On Tuesday, June 9th, our top seniors and their families were invited to join our board of education members for the Top Senior Sundaes with the Board of Education celebration. Each of our top seniors, seniors that have earned a cumulative high school average of 90% or higher, were asked to attend the event with their families and to invite a special teacher that has made an impact on them during their time at Remsen. Each student prepared and delivered a brief speech describing their time at Remsen, sharing memories from both elementary and high school, offering words of advice to underclassmen, and thanking their special guest teacher, as well as other staff members and the Remsen Board of Education. After the wonderful speeches were shared, students, families, friends and our board of education members enjoyed delicious sundaes together. The sundaes were generously donated by the folks at Stewarts for this very special event.
