The south side of the Las Vegas Strip is shining a little brighter tonight as the iconic “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign is now illuminated in purple in honor of our nation’s Purple Heart recipients.

NDVS was honored to attend this touching ceremony as our community came together to remember those who were wounded in service to our country and to honor their courage, sacrifice and service.

NDVS was honored to attend a Military Order of the Purple Heart ceremony recognizing the brave men and women who have earned our nation’s oldest military decoration for combat wounds at Las Vegas City Hall.

We remember their service, honor their sacrifice, and remain forever grateful for the courage they demonstrated in service to our country.

The Purple Heart is one of the most recognizable military decorations awarded by the United States Armed Forces. It honors service members who have been wounded or killed as a result of enemy action while serving in combat. In Nevada, we proudly recognize the sacrifices of these courageous men and women through the designation of the Purple Heart Highway in Southern Nevada and the issuance of Purple Heart specialty license plates for recipients of this distinguished award. These tributes serve as lasting reminders of the courage, sacrifice, and service of our nation's Purple Heart recipients.

Congratulations to Marie Holcomb! She is our VSO Supervisor in Southern Nevada and she is retiring after 18 years of service at NDVS!!!!

Eighteen years!

It’s not the length of time she has served, it’s the number of lives of veterans and their families she has served over the years!!!

We wish her the very best in her next, new chapter in her life!

Five Stars! Exceptional Care! Outstanding Team!
The Southern Nevada State Veterans Home has once again earned an overall 5-Star Quality Rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the highest rating possible.
The CMS 5-Star Quality Rating System helps veterans, families, and caregivers compare nursing homes by evaluating three key areas”
• Health inspections
• Staffing
• Quality measures

This achievement reflects the unwavering dedication of our medical director, nurses, certified nursing assistants, therapists, physicians, dietary staff, housekeeping, maintenance, administrative professionals, volunteers, and every team member who works each day to provide veterans with the compassionate, high-quality care they have earned through their service.

Congratulations to the entire Southern Nevada State Veterans Home team on this outstanding accomplishment. Thank you for your continued commitment to honoring Nevada’s veterans with excellence, dignity, and respect.
