Veterans Guest House today announced the recent appointment of four veterans to the Board of Directors – Raymond Zavalla, Jeff Hoppe, Matthew Jonkey and Felipe Gutierrez De Alba.
“We are thrilled to welcome Ray, Jeff, Matt, and Felipe to our talented Board of Directors. Their diverse perspectives are critical to addressing the challenges facing our veteran community, especially when it comes to accessing medical care,” Veterans Guest House CEO Sylvia Froslie said. “I am confident that their leadership will help expand access to the care and resources veteran families need.”
Zavalla is a Marine Corps Lieutenant Colonel who serves as the G-6 for the 4th Marine Air Wing. A pre-construction manager with Helix Electric, Zavalla’s volunteer work has focused on veteran causes, including as president of a non-profit group located in Afghanistan. He also serves on the Board of Directors of NAIOP N. Nevada, a national commercial real estate non-profit.
Hoppe, a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army, currently works as a prosecutor with the Washoe County District Attorney’s Office. He also serves as a Deputy Staff Judge Advocate in the Nevada Army National Guard.
Jonkey, a retired Army Colonel, currently works as a pilot with American Airlines. Over the course of his 33-year military career, Jonkey was involved in numerous community support missions and served as a senior leader in the Nevada National Guard.
Gutierrez De Alba, a Marine Corps veteran, currently serves as the Program Director of Veteran Services at Truckee Meadows Community College. In his role, Gutierrez De Alba ensures veteran families have access to education and transition programs as they prepare for life after service.
“Veterans at VGH have already benefitted from the knowledge and experience each of these individuals brings to the table and we thank all four men for their commitment to serving their fellow veterans,” Froslie added.
