A Representative-Payee is an individual or organization appointed by the Social Security Administration to receive Social Security and/or SSI benefits for someone who cannot manage or direct someone else to manage his or her money. The main responsibilities of a payee are to use the benefits to pay for the current and foreseeable needs of the beneficiary and properly save any benefits not needed t
o meet current needs. A payee must also keep records of expenses. When SSA requests a report, a payee must provide an accounting to SSA of how benefits were used or saved. Nevada Fiduciary Solutions currently provides payee services for those collecting benefits from SSA, the VA, and private pensions. Amanda Ferrato is a licensed Social Worker for the State of Nevada. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of Nevada, Reno as well as her Master’s degree in Public Administration. While working for the State of Nevada with Elder Protective Services as both an investigator and supervisor, Amanda has focused her sights on geriatric case management and investigations. During her time with the state, not only did Amanda investigate allegations of abuse and neglect for seniors in the community, she also concentrated much of her time and energy on financial exploitation cases. As an advocate for at risk and vulnerable groups, Amanda has worked closely with law enforcement to protect those susceptible to theft and exploitation and maintains ongoing professional relationships with multiple enforcement agencies. As a compassionate and dedicated social worker, Amanda is committed to upholding the highest ethical principles along with reliable and trustworthy services to clients in Northern Nevada.
