Jasper County Animal Shelter & Control was founded in November of 1998. Our shelter organization is operated & funded by Jasper County in the state of Indiana. Jasper County Animal Shelter & Control enforces the ordinances of Jasper County, Indiana and Indiana state laws on animals. Our facility intakes include stray and owner surrendered pets. We are a shelter specifically designed to take in cat

s and/or dogs. ADOPTIONS: Adoption Fee of $50.00 for cats/kittens Adoption Fee of $50.00 for dogs/puppies
Adoption fees cover the first vaccination & de-wormer of animals puppy and kittens & older if needed. We require all adopters to fill out an adoption application, provide a photo I.D., and obtain a prepay receipt from the veterinarian of their choice for the spaying/neutering and the rabies vaccination for the animal. A BiG part of our success is due to all the rescues and people who volunteer their time to help us save our animals. We full-heartedly thank all of you who donate so much of your time to help us get our fur babies to safety!!

* WE ARE LOCATED APPROXIMATELY 2 MILES OFF OF INTERSTATE 65 (EXIT 215 - U.S. 114 E) IN NORTHWESTERN INDIANA. TRAVEL EASTBOUND ON 114 TOWARDS RENSSELAER. U.S. 114 IS ALSO KNOWN AS CLARK STREET. WE ARE LOCATED 2 MILES EAST OF I-65 ON 114/CLARK ST. ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE ACROSS FROM THE JASPER COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS. JASPER COUNTY HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT IS LOCATED TO THE WEST AND THE JASPER COUNTY AIRPORT IS TO THE EAST OF OUR SHELTER. Jasper County Animal Shelter & Control is governed
under the authority of the Animal Shelter & Control Board & the County Commissioners of Jasper County, Indiana. The Board is composed of Citizens of Jasper County, Indiana. Meetings are held every 2nd Monday of the month, at 6:00 p.m. @ 910 S. Sparling Ave. Rensselaer. The public is welcome to attend meetings.

Hersey is a 3-year-old Pomeranian mix who recently arrived at the shelter, and this sweet boy is understandably feeling a little overwhelmed. ❤️

He is fixed and is a quiet, gentle guy who is a little shy and scared right now. He’s still trying to figure out his new surroundings, so we’d love to find him someone who will give him the patience, love, and time he needs to come out of his shell.

Hersey has previously lived with another dog and did fine with them, so he may enjoy having a canine companion again with the proper introduction.

Snickers is a 2-year-old sweet girl who is looking for a home to call her own! ❤️

She is spayed and up to date on her vaccinations including Rabies.

Snickers would do best as the only cat in the home. She’s not a big fan of sharing her space with other cats, but when it comes to people, she is an absolute sweetheart! 🥰 She loves being petted, getting attention, and soaking up all the love you’re willing to give.

And if you’ve got a good window where she can sit and watch the world go by…even better! 🪟🐱

Meet Bella, our sweet 3-year-old mixed breed girl who has already been through more than any dog should.

When Bella came to us, she was extremely underweight and clearly had a rough start to life. But somehow, through it all, this girl never let the world take away her happiness. 🥹

Bella is still full of life, love, and personality. And yes… this girl LOVES to eat! 😂 We’ve been slowly and safely helping her put weight back on, and she still has quite a bit more to gain. She’s making progress, but she needs time.

More than anything, Bella needs someone who understands that healing doesn’t happen overnight.

She needs love. Patience. Consistency. A soft place to land. ❤️

Bella previously lived in a home with another dog, so we know she has experience sharing her world with a canine companion. She’s also very curious about cats, so with the right introductions and the right family, we think Bella could continue to blossom.

She has already shown us that her past doesn’t define her.

Now she just needs someone to show her what a forever home is supposed to feel like.

This sweet boy absolutely LOVES being held. Give him your arms and he’ll give you the best little hugs and snuggles right back. All Slinky really wants is to curl up in your arms, feel safe, and soak up some love.

He can be a little shy at first, but he’s starting to discover that the world isn’t so scary—especially now that he has a new friend helping him come out of his shell. 🥰 He also does well with other cats!

Minnie is a 3-year-old female who has been through more than any little cat should have to endure. When she came to us, she was in rough shape and very skinny. But despite everything, Minnie has never stopped being exceptionally sweet. ❤️

With lots of care, good food, and plenty of love, we’ve nursed this special girl back to health. She still has a little way to go, but she’s getting stronger every day!

Minnie LOVES to eat — and honestly, can you blame her? 😻 She deserves a home where she will never have to worry about going without food, love, attention, or a warm, safe place to call her own.

JJ is friendly with the other cats, too. While all the kittens are busy running around and playing, JJ is perfectly content to sit back, relax, and watch all the action. 😻
