Pop over for Poem in Your Pocket Park this Thursday, April 30!
April 30 is Poem in Your Pocket Day, a national initiative that aims to share the joy and community of poetry by inspiring people to read and carry a poem with them throughout the day. At 6:30 pm, stop by the Pocket Park on Main Street by the library -- bring a poem or pick one there to share -- before we head in for Film Hour at 7:00 pm!

At Film Hour this month, we will be screening "Even Though the Whole World Is Burning" (2014), a documentary film about the life, work, and environmental activism of U.S. Poet Laureate W.S. Merwin.

Visit our Poetry Month page to print a poem for your pocket, or copy the template to make your own favorite poem pocket-sized. And on the 30th, celebrate a Poem Your Pocket Park.

Happy Earth Day! Teach your kids about recycling - the next time you are in the library, ask about this in-house recycling activity. With different recycling containers and trash tokens to be sorted, your child will quickly learn how much fun it is to recycle!
The kit includes a sorting guide so you can check what goes where!

Pick up an orange and some cloves the next time you're at the library, and make a lovely scented Christmas pomander! (while supplies last)

They make your home smell lovely, and if you put one in your holiday punch or mulled wine it looks pretty and adds a wonderful flavor as well.

Tips: use a marker to plot out your design. Then use a thick needle or toothpick to make the holes and insert the cloves.
