As part of Renton’s 125th Birthday, the Renton Historical Society invited students across the Renton School District to share what Renton means to them. Three hundred twenty students across 13 schools in the district demonstrated creativity, pride, and a strong sense of community through their submissions, helping to document and celebrate the spirit of Renton during this historic anniversary year.

During Monday’s meeting, City Council recognized the 25 contest winners of the writing competition, whose submissions demonstrated exceptional creativity, reflection, pride, and a deep appreciation for the city they call home. Accepting the recognition was Jacob Winter, Interim Executive Director of the Renton Historical Society and Genealogy Center.

Renton celebrates its 125th Birthday on September 6, 2026. Learn more about the city’s planned festivities throughout the 125th year or share your story on what Renton means to you!
