MEETING INFORMATION: When: Every 4th Wed of the month Time: 1:00 pm Where: Building 1, Room 235 Seattle VA Medical Center What is the Community Housing Council? The Community Housing Council consists of: • Veterans who use or have used community housing services • Qualified Veteran’s family members • Representatives from community housing agencies • Representatives from the Veteran Service Organizations What is the purpose of having a Community Housing Council? The Council will act in an advocacy role to the Housing programs steering committee to provide a veteran point of view on: • Housing issues of veterans • VA housing program development • Other matters that affect the veterans who use our housing services What the Community Housing Council is NOT: • A meeting to air personal issues; personal issues should be directed to the Patient Advocate or VASH Case Worker. What is expected of the members of the Community Housing Council? Community Housing Council Members should: • Have a genuine interest in being a part of the council • Attend meetings regularly • Have time to devote to the work of the council • Make a commitment to being part of the council for a period of at least a year What are the eligibility criteria for VETERANS who are interested in being members of the Community Housing Council? Veterans who have received or are receiving housing services in any of the following housing programs are eligible to submit their name for consideration: • VASH clients served by the Seattle division, including King County, Seattle, Bellingham, Snohomish, and Skagit counties • People in GPD programs served by the Seattle division • People in other VA housing including Santos Place and Compass Men’s program What are the eligibility criteria for NON-VETERANS who are interested in being members of the Community Housing Council? • Family members of eligible veterans • Providers and/or representatives from community housing agencies • Representatives from veterans service organizations
