You asked— King County Library System answered! Beginning October 20, most KCLS locations will be open 10 a.m.-8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, giving you more time to browse, study, print, or just have a place to be.

Monday, Thursday, Friday and weekend hours will remain the same for the time being. Libraries are open on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m, and Saturdays and Sundays from 11a.m.-6p.m. Please check your location’s page for current weekend hours.

All KCLS locations except Greenbridge and Skykomish Libraries will be open from 10-8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, beginning October 20.

This week is Banned Books Week, “an annual national event...that celebrates the freedom to read, highlights the value of free and open access to information, and opposes book censorship in schools and libraries.” — https://bannedbooksweek.org/about/

Join us for a screening of the award-winning film "The Librarians" on Wednesday, October 7 at 6pm. We’ll have a discussion with KCLS librarians after the film.

You can also view a gorgeous art installation by Amaranta Arte Y Cultura, on display through October 19.

From the artist: “This art installation advocates for the freedom to read and express oneself, raise awareness about literacy, emphasizing the transformative power of knowledge over censorship.”
