Officers responded to a reported stabbing at 5:34 a.m. in the 400 block of Williams Ave. S. Several people who knew each other were attending a party when an argument broke out. During the argument, one person broke a bottle and stabbed another person in the leg.

The victim sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Officers are still on scene and have probable cause to arrest the suspect for assault charges. The suspect had left before officers arrived and are currently performing a K9 track of the area. Case #26-6502
Update 8/21 6:54 a.m.: K9 track negative, case will be taken over by investigations for charges.

We love being welcomed into our neighborhoods and getting to know the people who live, work and play here. When neighbors know one another, share resources and look out for each other, it strengthens the entire community. That is good for crime prevention, safety and engagement. 💙❤️💙❤️💙

Congratulations, Sergeant Bills and Holly Smith!
Please join us in congratulating Sergeant Bills and Holly Smith on their recent promotions and celebrating a well-deserved Life-Saving Award for Sgt. Bills!
Holly Smith was promoted to Police Services Specialist Supervisor, where she leads a talented team of specialists who provide critical support to our officers in the field, answer your calls to the department, and handle many other essential functions. Holly has been serving the Renton Police Department for nearly 14 years, and we’re grateful for all she does for our department and community.
Sergeant Bills was promoted to sergeant and also received a Life-Saving Award for his actions in helping save the life of a man experiencing a cardiac emergency. Sgt. Bills has served with RPD for more than 5½ years, and we’re proud to recognize his dedication, leadership, and quick response.
Congratulations to both of you! We’re proud to have you on our team and grateful for your continued service to the Renton community.

Thank you to C. Davis Texas BBQ for dropping off some what we know will be delicious BBQ Pork and Brisket for our officer who is recovering at home after recently being seriously injured while on duty. I know him and his family will appreciate not only the food, but that you are looking out for them and willingly donated. We know how busy you are out in the community, hosting your own events, serving up delicious food to those who are always standing in long lines to get your food, and so we appreciate you taking the time to stop by and drop this off.

Renton has been my home now for 12 years and i absolutely love it here. I do my best to serve my community in anyway i can. Yes its a lot of work but im built for it. Thank you Renton Police Department, WA , WA for giving me the space to serve and to lartner with you when im needed. Thank you to all of the renton city employees. Your work is needed and appreciated 🙌🏻

CAR SEATS ARE MANDATORY-AS THEY SHOULD BE

Hello Kent, today we have a plea from one of our traffic officers to help get more of our little Kent tikes into car seats. The officers are running into more and more people who are either not educated in car seats laws and/or have no idea how to safely install them.

So PLEASE when you're done reading, share this post and it's information far and wide and help protect the travelling littles.

Here's the rules in WA State, (they are similar across the U.S.A.)

Children MUST ride in a rear-facing car seat until age 2
Children MUST ride in a harnessed seat until age 4
Children MUST be in a car seat OR booster seat until they reach 4 feet 9 inches tall, and are able to use a proper seat belt.

There is also a 'backseat' rule that states children under 13 MUST ride in the back seat unless it is impractical to do so.

We know that car seat installation is often frustrating; we all have kids and have had that experience. Below are three resources for you with lots of info on why car seats save lives, and where you can get info and help both with choosing the proper seat and installation.

Bottom line is you can't control anyone else's driving. Kids not in car seats are seriously injured or killed in collisions. Help us help others and chat about this with your family and friends.

We really appreciate the support for our officer who was injured the other day while serving the community. We thank you all, and The Salvation Army Renton Corps for thinking of us and taking the time to come by, and share your support and kind words, we will be sure to pass it along to him. This means a lot to us.

Today, The Salvation Army Renton Corps wants to express our deepest gratitude to the Renton police officer who was seriously injured while courageously protecting our community. He willingly placed himself in harm's way to stop a dangerous suspect, and because of his bravery, countless lives were protected—including three members of our church family who live in the apartment community behind our corps.

We are incredibly thankful for the courage and sacrifice of this officer and for the entire Renton Police Department for their swift response in apprehending the suspect.

As a small expression of our appreciation, we delivered donuts to the Renton Police Department and balloons for the wounded officer. While these gifts are simple, they come with heartfelt gratitude and many prayers.

Please continue to join us in praying for the officer's complete healing, for his family, for his fellow officers, and for everyone affected by this tragic event. We also pray for peace, comfort, and God's protection over our entire Renton community.

Officer Kauppila is home. ❤️
We’re grateful to share that Officer Kauppila has been released from the hospital and is now recovering at home after being seriously injured in the line of duty on Monday night.
As Ofc. Kauppila left Harborview Medical Center, dozens of officers from multiple agencies lined up outside, cheering him on and reminding him that he is surrounded by an incredible law enforcement family.
We are thankful for the outstanding care he received, the overwhelming support from our community and our partner agencies, and most of all, that Ofc. Kauppila is on the road to recovery.
Please join us in wishing Officer Kauppila a speedy recovery as he heals. 💙
