Summer vacation is here, and we still have many lost items looking for their owners!

Please stop by the elementary building and check out the lost-and-found tables located outside. The tables will be available today and tomorrow, so take a moment to see if any of these items belong to your family.

Thank you for helping us reunite these lost items with their homes! 😊

To celebrate the end of the school year, Mrs. Campbell's first-grade class planted flowers uptown just in time for Prospector's Days. The students spent the day planting their homegrown flowers in several planters around town, including the concrete planters along Main Street and at the Post Office, the mine carts at Stonerose and the library, as well as the raised bed in Patterson Park. They practiced their gardening skills by checking the roots, digging holes, and properly spacing the colorful petunias and marigolds. Be sure to look out for their handiwork when you head downtown this weekend!

Mrs. Sage's third-grade class had a hands on day of learning as they explored local history in their backyard. Their adventure began at the Stonerose Fossil Site, where students used hammers and chisels to dig through rock and uncover plant fossils. This hands-on experience allowed them to see what the region looked like millions of years ago.

Next, the class traveled forward in time to learn about local pioneer history with a visit to the Kaufman Cabin and the Slagle House. Students toured these historic structures and discovered how early families in Republic lived and contributed to shaping our community.

The ROAR program would like to thank Andy Brockett and Travis Wellman from Stonerose, as well as Debbie Almquist and the volunteers from the Ferry County Historical Society.

The ROAR program recently spent two days at Curlew Lake State Park learning essential water safety skills. With the assistance of the Washington State Safe Boating Program, students from Republic focused on staying safe around Washington State waterways and learned effective kayaking techniques. Instructors took time on the shore to review how to safely enter and exit a kayak, correct paddling techniques, and ensured students were properly fitted with life jackets.

A huge thank you goes out to Alyssa Smith and Theresa Wood from Washington State Parks, as well as Kacie Hurtado from Spokane County Parks and Recreation, for making the trip to Curlew Lake to teach these valuable life skills to the students of Republic.
