(Jan. 11, noon) The phone line to schedule vaccines for eligible 1a and now 1b populations is experiencing overwhelming high demand and phone calls are being dropped. I share everyone’s frustration with this situation and appreciate the enthusiasm this shows by so many to get the vaccine as soon as possible. An online vaccine registration system was supposed to be operational this morning, but as of noon today that online form is not yet available. The vaccine registration system will now be the first item on the agenda for tomorrow’s (Jan. 12) 9:30 a.m. Board of Supervisors IT Committee meeting, which I chair. More information to follow from my office and from the county's Health Department: https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/health/novel-coronavirus/vaccine

Today has truly been one of the most remarkable days in our country’s history, and the sounds and images on our screens are frightening and saddening. Over the years we have seen many challenges to authority, to our system, and even to each other. However, we have always emerged stronger and doubled down on our commitment to a more perfect union. Let’s not forget that our institutions are strong, our commitment to rule of law is unchanged, and that government by the people and for the people remains our foundational principle. We have the oldest democracy on earth and we will pull together so that does not change.

Please everyone, stay home, stay safe and reach out to neighbors and friends who may be feeling frightened or isolated.

What to Expect When It’s Your Turn to Get Vaccinated
----------------------------------------------------------
The first doses of COVID-19 vaccine began rolling out this week. First in line to get the COVID-19 vaccine will be healthcare workers and residents in long-term care facilities. As vaccine availability increases, recommendations will expand to include more groups, and eventually the entire population. According to the CDC, the vaccine can cause side effects that will last for a few days. Learn more about these symptoms and what you can do to reduce discomfort: https://bit.ly/2KCO349

Wow! Our very own 'supervisor' will fight inequality and climate change!! Send those social workers unarmed to domestic disputes. What could go wrong? Spend countless thousands if not millions to 'fight climate change'. Those of us who aren't busy being woke and making sure to get re-elected know that "climate change" is just a big scam to get more money flowing to politicians. NOTHING is changed by you creating task forces and putting out a newsletter that costs US money. What are our 'government officials' supposed to do? How about finish the roads that are a mess and pot-holed. How about working to get our kids back to school where they can learn, and not be sitting in front of a computer all day. How about keeping everyone employed, instead of putting us all out of work because of a 'pandemic' that has a 99.8% survival rate. Just because there is a D after your designation, doesn't mean that you aren't responsible to ALL of the Hunter Mill district. There's not a D after my name, nor an R, just sign me a patriot who has had enough of you wasting time and money and claiming to be important.

At north point village shopping center today !
Are you aware of the swastika signs and the anti-Semitic texts spray-painted on the sidewalks at North Point shopping center? This is extremely upsetting and literallly in our backyards!!
Dear Supervisor Alcorn ~ Many jurisdictions around the country and in the DMV are passing legislation designed to help small businesses keep their doors open and recover after the current crisis fades. I have not heard anything from Fairfax County - their plans to help this critical part of our social and economic infrastructure. Let’s be clear - loans really don’t help most service industry businesses. When I am able to re-open my coffeehouse, my customers will return. But they won’t return and purchase extra to help pay off a loan. However, a grant would allow me to keep my staff employed, keep my doors open, continue to provide much needed support to my local community and enable me to be ready, when the time is right, to re-open my coffeehouse to the public. I hope that the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors is seriously considering solutions like grants - and that they considering them now. While there is still time to save hundreds of small businesses. Sincerely, Michael Amouri Owner Caffe Amouri
