Summer often brings a sharp increase in societal pressure surrounding body image, diet culture, and toxic fitness trends. For individuals navigating eating disorder recovery, this season can present unique mental health challenges.

At Prosperity, we want to remind you that your recovery doesn’t take a summer vacation, and it doesn't need to look like anyone else’s. 💜

We've shared these gentle reminders for the days you or your clients might need a little extra grace:

✨ Rest days belong in your summer, too.
✨ You are allowed to take up space.
✨ You don’t need to “burn it off” to enjoy it.
✨ Your healing doesn’t need to look like anyone else’s.
✨ Off days are not setbacks.
✨ You don’t owe anyone a reason for what you eat.

True wellness means prioritizing mental peace over societal expectations. If you are a professional supporting clients through these seasonal triggers, or if you are navigating this journey yourself, remember that healing is not linear.

Which of these reminders resonates most with your practice or personal journey today?

"I am different, but we are all different, which makes us not that different after all."

True healing happens in community. While an eating disorder can make you feel entirely isolated in your food fears or body anxieties, opening up often reveals that you are never as alone as you think.

Sometimes, the most beautiful reminders of connection and food freedom come from unexpected places, like this sweet illustrated book, Georgie the Corgi’s Insecurities. 🐾

Swipe through for a few reminders we love!

🍦 Food can be both nourishing and joyful. Recovery includes building flexibility around food and learning that food is allowed to support both our bodies and our happiness.

🐾 Community matters. When we share the things we have been holding inside, we often discover that someone else has felt that way too. That connection is such an important part of our PHP and IOP groups.

💬 How would you answer the question from the book: “What foods do you consider food for your soul and food for your body?"

Eating disorders don’t discriminate, and care should never exclude. 🏳️‍🌈

This Pride Month, Prosperity is honoring and uplifting the LGBTQIA+ community while continuing the conversation around eating disorder awareness, access, and recovery.

Eating disorders can affect anyone, regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, race, age, or body size. LGBTQIA+ individuals may also face higher risk due to stigma, discrimination, body image pressures, and barriers to affirming care.

At Prosperity, we believe recovery support should feel safe, inclusive, and identity-affirming. Every person deserves care that honors their full story and the unique challenges they may carry into recovery.

Your story matters.
Your identity matters.
Your recovery matters. 🫶

Now Enrolling in Virginia: In-Person Intensive Outpatient Eating Disorder Program

Recovery from an eating disorder is rarely a straight line, and it is never something someone should have to navigate alone.

At Prosperity Eating Disorders & Wellness Center, our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) offers meaningful, evidence-based eating disorder treatment with the flexibility to support clients as they continue participating in daily life.

Our in-person IOP is designed to provide structure, clinical support, and experiential care in a compassionate environment.

What makes our IOP unique?

Our approach blends clinical excellence with experiential recovery through:
• Internal Family Systems (IFS) informed therapy
• Cooking experiences and food exposures in a supportive environment
• Somatic and body-based healing practices
• Individualized, trauma-informed care
• Community connection and therapeutic support

We believe recovery happens not only through insight, but through lived experiences, nourishment, curiosity, and compassionate connection.

With morning, midday, and evening tracks available, meeting 3 to 5 days per week, our team works with each client to build a schedule that supports both their treatment needs and their everyday life.

For providers: If you have a client or patient who may benefit from a higher level of care while maintaining their outpatient relationship with you, we are here to collaborate and support their recovery.

🚨 Today is . 🚨

Help the Eating Disorders Coalition for Research, Policy & Action advocate for better access to eating disorder care by urging Members of Congress to co-sponsor the bipartisan Nutrition CARE Act.

This legislation would expand Medicare coverage to include Medical Nutrition Therapy for individuals with eating disorders, helping more people access the nutrition counseling and support they need for recovery.

June 2 is World Eating Disorders Action Day. 🌎💜 Access to eating disorder care matters, and advocacy plays an important role in creating meaningful change.

This year, the Eating Disorders Coalition (EDC) is encouraging advocates to support the bipartisan Nutrition CARE Act, which would expand coverage for Medical Nutrition Therapy (dietitian services) and make it easier for individuals with eating disorders to access nutritional counseling and support.

Currently, Medicare only covers outpatient nutritional services for individuals diagnosed with diabetes or end-stage renal disease. This legislation would help address that gap for those impacted by eating disorders.

If you have one minute today, you can use EDC’s action alert to contact your Members of Congress and encourage them to co-sponsor the Nutrition CARE Act.

Supporting a child through eating disorder recovery can feel overwhelming, especially when you are not always sure what to say or do.

One of the most meaningful ways to support your child is to lead with compassion, patience, and a willingness to learn. Recovery is not about perfection, and your support does not have to be perfect either.

Small moments of understanding, calm, encouragement, and connection can make a difference.

If your child is struggling with an eating disorder, support is available. 💜

Recovery is not one-size-fits-all. Each person’s path can look different, and that does not make it any less valid. 🧭

Eating disorder recovery can come with ups and downs, setbacks, progress, uncertainty, and growth. There is no perfect timeline or single “right” way to heal.

Your journey is still real, even if it looks different from someone else’s.

Eating disorder recovery can feel heavy some days, and that does not mean you are failing.

Let this be your reminder that you are allowed to take up space, your thoughts are not always telling you the truth, and your worth has never been defined by a number, a size, or a reflection.

Recovery is not about being perfect. It is about continuing to show up for yourself with compassion, support, and care, one day at a time. 💜
