Even with the onset of greenery and increased humidity, incidents can still occur. We would like to extend our gratitude to RMC Dist 1&3 Grader Hands, RMC Emergency Management, Black Kettle Forestry, Cheyenne Volunteer Fire, RMC Sheriff Office and Sweetwater Volunteer Fire for their assistance today.

Whith the grass trying to green up I would to remind everyone that it not to the point where we are safe from fire danger. Today west of Hammon a fire started at the edge of the highway in 3 different spots in green grass (probably from a chain dragging or other vehicle malfunction), it then burned into tall,still dormant, grass burning 135 acres in canyons and pretty rough country threatening 2 homes. With that in mind tomorrow, Thursday 4/16/2026, is Red Flag Fire day with wind gusts expected to 30 mph. And humidity as low as 7% . Everyone stay vigilant..and if you see smoke report it!
We will need significant rainfall to end the wildfire danger
