Hello Everyone

Well we are doing some spring cleanup along our roads . Chipping up limbs and such . Doing some plow damage repairs , which takes awhile . We will be doing some Road Sweeping on days of rain , helps keeps down on the dust.

We have our general maintenance work which will began in May . It takes awhile to switch over from winter operations , taking the sanders of the trucks and installing the dump bodies. We have 3 trucks with the old style sanders on them , when I order a New truck I'm getting the combination bodies now , they work better and are universal meaning two thing in one body, sander and dump body. Plows have to be put away for storage.

We will have a New Plow and Dump truck on order shortly , takes almost a year to get it.

We have a equipment replacement program that we try to stay with and so far has worked really well for us. We get between 10 to 20 years on our larger equipment and longer on some .

Notice : The old landfill on Stone Church Road will be open from 9 am till 1 Pm to accept Brush from Rhinebeck Residents Only on the last Saturday of each month running from April till October .

Well that all for now , stay well . Bob Wyant

Good morning Everyone
Well it looks like we may get some Thunder Storms rolling through this afternoon. We have a warm front moving in this morning then a cold front later in the day moving in .
We may get some strong winds , and may have some trees and limbs falling , so please be careful and slow down on our rural roads , you can go around a bend and there maybe a branch or a tree in the road.
We always try to stay on top of it but if wires are involved especially power wires we have to wait for Central Hudson to remove the wires, this means the road would be closed to thru traffic till it is removed .
So stay alert and please do not go near down wires , stay back from them and report them to us , Highway Dept. Numbers are 845 876 6263 my emergency cell number is 845 224 8316.
Central Hudson number is 845 486 5604 please have your information correct Road Name and Town name and where about the down wire is located.
Well lets hope we don't get any bad weather i guess its a hit and miss type of storm rolling through.
That's it for now stay safe .Bob Wyant

Hello Everyone

On another note , the Salt Brine System we have saved 105 ton of salt from being put on our roads and into our soils. It was a mild winter this year , and also had a lot of storms starting as rain and turning to snow which meant we couldn't use the brine.

We saved $9172.00 dollars in Salt and Labor with the Salt Brine. just to give a update for the year.

I'm very happy with our salt brine process, and I'm still learning from it . Stay Well Bob Wyant

Hello Everyone

Just want to give a update to what we have been doing the last month.
We have been doing some brush cutting along Old Post Road with our new brush cutter and Excavator works pretty good , I know it may look a little ragged. I always tell everyone you cut one and ten comes to its funeral , soon as things start greening up which should be shortly I hope you won't notice it . We also did brush cutting on Wheeler Road and South Mill Road.

We have been out doing some tree work also.

Today we are doing some pothole repairs, it is the season . The constant freezing and thawing causes it . If anyone knows of a pothole one town roads please let me know . We do our best to try and keep up with it but sometimes they appear overnight.

Our next phase will be switching over to spring and summer operations , removing the sanders off the truck reinstalling the dump bodies , putting our plows and wings in storage .Our mechanic will be checking them out during the process checking for broken springs and such from the wear and tear of plowing. I really don't believe it was that bad of a winter not a lot of snow and stayed fairly mild compared to some winters we have had in the past.

Well that's it for now stay safe. Bob Wyant

Well Hello Everyone

Happy first day of Spring one of my favorites times of year, everything turning green. Summer is my next favorite .

It looks like it will be warming up this week , hopefully no more snow !

We are still cleaning up from the storm , and then will be doing some repair work where plows dug up things.

We have a little more brush cutting to do on Old Post Road, and then some road sweeping .

Everyone watch out for what is called the Big Night when frogs and lizards cross some of our roads in a mass migration to mate . Usually a lot on Mount Rutsin and Vlie Roads it happens after a rain and a fairly warm night in the forties . Which my be Wednesday or Thursday of this week. Usually you will see volunteers on the roads to warn people that it is happening and to be careful driving .

Here are some of our projects for this year:
Paving Old Albany Post Road ( behind State Trooper Barracks )
Paving Crosby Lane
Paving Old Rock City Road
Paving Slate Dock
Paving Lemon Lane
Fiber Matting Kerr, Wolcot , Tappen, Wey , Pilgrims Progress
it like Oil and Stone but has a fiberglass Strands for reinforcement.
It works pretty well , we did Burger Road with it and Hilltop, its holding up pretty well.
We also have a Drainage Project on Jones, Vandenberg and Kelly and Butler Street in Rhinecliff planned .

Well that's about it for now everyone enjoy first day of Spring .Sincerely Bob Wyant

Good Morning Everyone

Well the not so big storm is over , we weathered it pretty good it was starting to get to a point where things could start happening but didn't quite make it there.

A few more hours our of heavy snow would have changed things , more trees falling and wires down, the wind never really kicked in like they were talking and that helped also.

So we got lucky feel bad for the people that were with out power , but Central Hudson was on the job, they called me and asked if we had any problems a first that I can remember . Then gave me a follow up call. We always help them out when we can moving large trees so they can do there thing. I have seen them in the worst weather working in pitch dark ,raining ,wind blowing and their up in a bucket truck getting things working.

The Telephone guys really helped out to with this storm cutting trees hanging over the road caught on their wires . Big Thank you to Todd Gay and crew.

As always a big thank you to my Crew Brian , Rick , Bob , Adam, Robby, Tony , and part time man Jim. I would also like to thank the Towns Maintenance Bob , Mike, Tom they cleaned up a lot of the tree limbs in the road for us.

I would also like to thank the Town Supervisor Elizabeth she called me to ask how it was going and what roads were closed and if I needed anything. She always stays in touch with me during storms .

Well it looks like nice weather coming , just don't get to comfortable yet , lets hope March goes out like a lamb.

Stay Well Bob Wyant
